UC is RIDICULOUSLY young. I mean, I knew that, but it didn't really hit me until ESPN showed their age relative to other teams around the country. This team is talented though, their defense and running game gave Louisville fits until wearing down and Louisville adjusting, and the passing game showed signs of coming around. To much inexperience against a loaded, veteran Top 25 caliber squad. But UC has some talent on this team, no question. All we need is some maturity. The defense is going to be something else on this team once it gets more experience and Dantonio can recruit a little more depth this offseason. We're still a year or so away from being a major Big East player, but I think this team definitely can be a bowl team, and middle-tier Big East squad next year. That's enough to make some noise and get some exposure on the national scene. Entertaining game the first half. One good thing to come out of this, this SHOULD bolt Louisville back into the Top 25, which is good news for the Cards and the conference as a whole. Good effort by the Cats.

Very good assessment. Watching Big East football this year closely for the first time I can see it is a huge step up from C-USA-(Not taking anything from C-USA but this is a major step up).

I see a lot of very good young talent at all the schools in the Big East. Get your shots in this year because the next 2 years the Big East is going to be a very good football league.
Agreed...lots of youth in this league. Should be fun the next couple years 04-cheers
Just back from the game.

1. UofL offense is just too powerful. UC's defense did a good job until the last 3 minutes of the first half, then Louisville kicked it into high gear.

2. Why did UC take Greg Moore out when they had 1st and goal on the 2? He was running all over the Cardinals. I've said it before - Glaathar just does not get to the hole quickly enough! They would have been better off running up the middle with Glaathar in there. Moore should have had a chance to score - he earned it and probably would have. This was a critical turning point in the game.

3. Davila looked good again and may deserve a chance to start and see what he can do with a full week of practice at # 1.

4. Pitiful attendance. I was afraid the weather would keep some away. But it was beautiful at the start of the game. Poor student turnout. I can't understand why students, who get in for free, do not support the Bearcats. Even Louisville fans did not turn out as well as they usually do and they were pretty quiet even when they were winning.

Good game Louisville.
Good game UL. You guys are still out of our league. We made it interesting in the first half, but I guess just a matter of time.

If our crowds don't improve, we're going to be out of UL's (and the rest of the BE) league for good :frown:

-- also agree...it looked really bad on TV...I was watching on ESPN and when they left college gameday there were UT fans everywhere in Austin and the place was loud....suddenly the scene shirts to Nippert and all you saw were empty seats....the difference was sudden and oh so obvious

-- all in all I thought UCs football team played has hard as they could play today....they should be commended on there effort.....next yr UCs schedule is murder...correct me if I'm wrong...but I think Ohio St, VA Tech, Louisville and West Virginia are all on the road ......the yr after is when the Bearcats should make some noise in football

I can't find official numbers, but I'm shocked that the stadium didn't look more full. How can we draw 30,000+ for Temple and Miami-OH the last 2 years but not for Connecticut and Louisville!? Crazy. Yep, next year we go on the road to play Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Louisville, West Virginia and Connecticut. Damn. Maybe we don't be a bowl team next year afterall.

Attendence was pathic they only had 21086. 2nd game in a row that we only had 21,000 People need to start supporting the Cats more.

As long as Dantonio is around to see the job through. I wouldn't blame him if he went elsewhere (read: a fanbase that appreciates college football).

It looked to me like more than half of the fans that were there were Cardinal fans. If Ul sent 10,000 that mean UC only drew 10,000 of its own fans. That is lousy amd inexcuseable.
Sure it's excusable.

UC fans will blame it on Nancy Zimpher. :bang: :bang: :bang:
What kind of crowd do y'all think UC will draw for West Virginia? It seems to me that this is going to be an imporant game for UC...national TV and (hopefully) a top 20 regional opponet....it would look horrible for the league if there is only 15,000 in the stands

-- the Bearcat's fan base lack of interest in football is such a mystery to me.....look at Uconn....they have been D1 for what...4 yrs....and they draw 40,000 when the play Liberty....I hope the new Bearcat AD has a plan to solve this problem

As a UC fan who has been to every home game since '99 I can't explain why we don't draw. We've been moderately succesful, 4 bowls in 5 years. The only thing I can say is Cincinnati is an extreme fair weather city. When/If we win big we'll start to draw big, hopefully.

Unless WVU travels as much as UL did today, which I can't see given the mid-week date, we'll definately pull less than 20k for that game. Perhaps less than 15k.
It will be interesting to see who shows up for the WVU game. If UC can knock off Syracuse and go into the game at 4-4 we might get a decent crowd. I think the students will show up in much greater numbers for a night game...They were pathetic today. I think the affect of Huggins dismissal is having a huge impact. The donors who we have always counted on to fill their seats simply aren't showing up and haven't all year(pretty easy to see all the empty red seats). The student support has always been bad, but seems to be getting worse rather than better.

With the Bengals having a successful season so far, do you think this is also taking away from Bearcat football?

There were not 10000 Louisville people there. Maybe 7500. I sat next to them so I should know.

Like I said, there were a lot less Cardinal fans at Nippert than usual and they were really quiet until they scored that TD right before the end of the first half.

Anyway you slice it, UC's support is pathetic and someone needs to do something.

I don't think the Huggins thing is having that much of an impact. Our attendance is about the same as it ialways is every season.

I think, once we are in the mioddle of the season, people only want to go to a UC game if they think the Bearcats have a shot at winning the game.

Way too many fair weather fans.

Probably yes, to some extent.
I disagree about Huggins. The red seats historically have been the seats that are filled. Now many of those seats are empty and we are maintaining the same level of attendance. To me this shows we have attracted as many new fans as we have lost from our old fan base, which is why we are sitting at 21k this year.

-- Agreed....shouldn't count on a lot of WVU fans to show because it is a mid week game....
