Bobcats are #28 in AP
This is what I think each team needs to do to get a couple votes:

OU- already has votes
Balls Tate- Start off 5-1 with their next two wins over Kent State and NIU.
Kent State- Start off 7-1 with their next wins being Balls Tate, EMU, Army, WMU, and Rutgers.
CMU- Start off 6-1 with their next wins being NIU, Toledo, Army, and Balls Tate
Miami- Start off 6-2 with their next wins being Akron, Cinci, BG and Ohio.
NIU- Start off 10-1 with their next wins being CMU, Balls Tate, Buffalo, Akron, WMU, Umass, and Toledo. They're crossover schedule being weak will keep NIU from getting votes until the end of the season. But if they played two strong teams in the next couple weeks I could see them getting votes quicker.
Toledo- Start off 7-1 with their next wins being WMU,CMU, EMU, and Cinci.
WMU- Start off 7-2 with their next wins being Toledo, Umass, Balls Tate, Kent State, and NIU.
good stuff. If someone is able to come out of the west fairly unscathed we could end up with 2 top 25 teams playing for the championship.
Ohio will continue to move up if they stay unbeaten with an Orange Bowl trip vs an unbeaten Cincinnati. Assuming FSU-Alabama national title game.
CMU plays Navy, not Army.
Congrats to OU!

thanks J!

and to clarify, we are #29 in the AP but we are #38 in the coaches. not that it really matters yet since we're not in the top 25 yet. just wanted to set things straight! LOL
A couple more wins oughta do it (top 25) if a few of the schools currently ranked #20-#28 will be good enough to lose a game here and there in the meantime!

We (I'm a Penn State alum) will try to keep on winning. The Bobcats have become my favorite MAC team since I moved to the Cincinnati area 4 years ago (it's certainly not the pretty boys from Oxford).

Ohio's win at Beaver Stadium doesn't seem, as of today, to be recognized as even a half-way decent win. We're not elite, but I don't think we're terrible either.

The way you handled Navy makes me think you can't be that bad either. They're not dominated like that except against good teams.

Couple more wins for the Bobkitties and hopefully they'll be ranked. Will be that much better when we beat them again in Detroit. 02-13-banana

Hey - why is the banana stationary? Did the Joker freeze him with something?

Makes me feel a little uneasy when a Penn State fan refers to us as pretty boys.

Six straight losses to EACH of your rivals --- and all but one of those losses by multiple scores --- seems you "pretty boys" ARE kind of used to "getting humbled" these days.

If you're going to take unfunny cheap shots, right back at you.
Hey....................Remember when this happened?

Haha...that was pretty quick witted.

Btw the Penn St thing is pretty creepy.
I think jury is out on the Big Ten. Ohio may be ranked higher than the Big Ten champ. None of these teams are top 10 and perhaps none are top 20. Lots of 20-40 teams, but not a real good or great team. Had Michigan State played Ohio they would have been down 2 touchdowns and Solich would have stopped the run a lot better on Bell. Ohio would have punished Michigan with those turnovers. I don't think Wisconsin could beat Ohio right now. Iowa certainly looks beatable and CMU proved that. Penn State may still get 4-4 6-6 season with the weak Big Ten. Atleast Penn State's QB doesn't turn the ball over like the clown at QB for Michigan. Robinson most overated player in the nation. Lot of dumb plays from that kid.
The two teams you didn't mention are possibly the two best - Purdue and Nebraska. But I agree on your premise that Ohio may be better than the teams you listed. Doubtful you'd be better than the B1G champ, even this year. But I'm sure Frank would love squaring off with Nebraska.

The problem with the B1G is that the QB play has been wretched. The MAC has much better QB play every year and that is no shock but the B1G this year is the worst I can remember. That's why they are struggling.

I'm still not convinced that Ohio is head and shoulders better than anybody in the west division except perhaps Eastern, who has a good defense but may not be able to generate enough scoring to keep up. The PSU win was a good win for Ohio but that team will likely finish near the bottom of the B1G. As might Indiana or UConn or USF in the BE or Kansas in the B12.

With everybody now getting into league play, we'll start to sort out who looks tough and who doesn't against MAC competition. I see the MAC West more wide open than I can remember.
Congrats on the big win today Ohio. You really showed the country why you're the #29 team in the nation :microwave:
