The Rockets are one week removed from a similar debacle with Coastal Carolina but the only difference is UMASS is an FBS team. And Coastal Carolina got rocked today by another FCS team.

Not necessarily a reason to predict doom for the Bobcats but like the Rockets, I'm sure they're going to learn what they need to work on.

Umass.....

thanks! Every win on the road in this conference is a big win, so we'll gladly take it and remain undefeated.

i guess Boise State showed why they are the #24 team in the nation with their 32-29 win at New Mexico, too. 04-cheers
Ohio and twelve other MAC teams would like to be like Boise St. but none of them have much in common with Boise.

Yeah, you are right. The better teams in the MAC seem to have terrible defenses and good offenses whereas Boise has a terrible offense and a good defense.

Boise is a good mid major team this year but they aren't anything great. The Boise teams of the past 5 years would kick the shiz out of this year's Boise. This is only an opinion and so can't be proven but my honest thought on them is that if they were in the Big East this year, Rutgers, Cincy, and Louisville would probably finish ahead of them. They do have a decent win against BYU but not a great win like they've had one of each year in the past.

True, we don't even have a student club for "people stockpiling weapons to overthrow the national government", while its a varsity sport at BoiseSt.
Ohio is typically a slow starter in conference play under Solich usually dropping early October games they are favored to win. Today Ohio was flat. It might have been playing in an empty NFL stadium. Ohio has had poor games at EMU for the same reason. Ohio is one of those teams that plays to the crowd and opponnet. UMass looked like they more than belonged on the field. UMass isn't a bad team. They are young, but they got talent. That said Ohio's defense was terrible today. Way to many big plays. Then didn't get many turnovers. Ohio's defense lives off turnovers. Was this just a flat game, or a sign of future trouble. MAC East looks a lot tougher with Kent St, Miami and Akron putting up more points than Ohio's today. Ohio may lose some votes this week. La Tech beat Virginia today, so they may be the better unbeaten non-AQ.

Lots of teams ranked higher than Ohio lost.
OU fans were cocky about beating up on UMASS, but UMASS is an improving squad and gave the overconfident Kittens all they could handle. But the Kittens won and that's all that matters. Will their close win cost them top 25 votes? Absolutely. But they are still undefeated and that's what counts. Also, look for UMASS to win a couple of games before the season ends...as I warned the Bobcat faithful in threads predicting this week's results, I was very impressed in watching their offense in their loss to Miami the week before. They can move the ball!

If Ohio struggles in empty stadiums then they will always have a difficult time with Umass. Even for the UNH games with 25K in attendance Gillette felt empty. The BC game in 2014 might close in on 50K, but other than that Gillette will seem empty for just about every game even if Umass is able to develop decent sized fan base.

There was a point there in the 3rd quarter where I really thought Umass was going to put an end to all of this BCS talk for Ohio, but in the end Umass just didn't have the horses to get key stops down the stretch. Now that they are by Massachusetts I will be rooting for the Bobcats to run the table and get their shot. It would be fantastic to see a MAC school against one of the big boys in January.

I think its more that Ohio had issues at the QB position with Tettleton trying to come back in with 2 weeks off and the team not firing on all cylinders plus UMass playing their game of the year thus far on Saturday.

Boise State only beat New Mexico by 3 points as well don't forget that..
Boise State isn't that good this year. Ohio has bigger aspirations than Boise this year bit ksu n akron are going to challenge them
Ohio with 11 votes and Toledo with 1 in the coaches poll this week.
Coaches poll:

Ohio is 34th
Toledo is 41st
Let's get two teams in!

if this keeps up throughout the rest of the season, the MAC championship game could have two ranked teams going at each other. has that ever happened before?
