I saw it tonight thinking I would really like it .. I did not. At least 6 people walked out of the movie.. a Movie they traveled to the Ridgeway Four (an out of the way place) the first night it was out.

The plot was confusing unless you payed super close attention AND had a great memory.. the gratitious sex and profanity was annoying .. (and I like sex and profanity).. There was no point to it and it was not entertaining, informative, thought provoking, or even depressing (except for the depression of wasting two hours and ten bucks)

I have seen worse movies on cable but have never paid to watch one ..
Ha ha ha! This thread title is hilarious! This reminds me of the time I saw the Brothers Solomon in theaters and watched the place literally empty out. It was the only time I actually considered going back to the ticket desk and ask for my money back. It was that God awful.
the Master is a beautiful movie ...it just sucks

you will see some good reviews because the reviewer thinks it is supposed to be a great movie...
what was confusing about the plot? i thought it was pretty straight forward. anyway, it definitely is my least favortie paul thomas anderson movie, but it is far from the worst movie i've seen in the theater. that award has to go to "any given sunday" or "the black dahlia". those two were BRUTAL!

when he was arrested in Philidelphia, if you did not pay close attention, it was not clear that it was his host in New York that pressed charges, unless you knew the story already ( alegedly) or you could recall her name that was spoken once before. it makes a pretty big difference who that was.

it was so disapointing given the interesting subject matter it would be easy to make a great movie based on L Ron Hubbard he is a very interesting figure.....and given the ocar buzz this movie is a huge let down.

i read a review online that Phoenix's performance was masterful and the jail scene was given as the finest example, it was a simple scene with monotone emotion from his charactor and he played it to the hilt, as any sophmore actor who is loud enough could but it was not a unique performance. How was his performance different from Walk the Line?

what is the point of the nudity in the singing scene?

what is the point of Amy Adams reading smut to Phoenix's charactor?

why is the son's distrust of his dad not explored?

i know a lot of the answers to these questions given my background knowledge, but others did not.. i never bought
Check out Compliance if you have the chance. Has supposedly set records for walkouts.
