Google Maps' street view of ODU is still stuck in '07 and it's actually pretty cool to see how much our school has transformed over the last half-decade. Brought back some nostalgic memories since I was a freshman the year this street view was created, but I'm sure most of you have been around longer and have seen much more changes. Anyways, here's Foreman Field, but it's a bit more fun to virtually drive around the rest of the '07 campus as well:

Kids.
I was there when they landscaped Kaufman mall and it was nothing but new grass and every tree was about a foot tall.

03-shhhh
I forget my dad was there in the early 70s when I talk about not recognizing the campus and I was there in the late 90s early 2000s. I can't imagine the differences from then till now. Especially considering BAL didn't have AC up until I think after I graduated? I remember roasting in there and they even closed it down if I remember once.

Amazing the transformation in such a short time.
I was a student from '96 to '02 and remember roasting away in BAL a few times
That is what you guys get for majoring in some pansy Arts & Letters type program..... j/k
Speaking of Arts and Letters, have you heard about the new monarch way Arts Building/Amphitheater project slated to begin construction in 2013? Cool stuff. (LINK). They gonna be adding a path along the wetland so I wonder if the apartment buildings between the Gresham/Rodgers area and Monarch Way will be demolished.

Can't wait for the new Engineering building, should be ready by my senior year.

What engineering building? The research building being built I think is for a lot of things and not just engineering. My professor said there wouldn't be many classrooms in it anyways.

Engineering Research. On the rendering, the front of the building has in big (aluminum?) letters "Engineering Systems"

Also, most of the research capabilities are engineering related.

Quote:Some of the features ESB will have include:

A new clean room maintained by the MAE department
A Characterization Lab maintained by the MAE department
A Lasers Lab maintained by the ECE department
Two Biomedical Dry Labs and a Biomedical Web Lab maintained by the MAE department
A MAGLEV Controls Lab maintained by the MAE department
A Plasma Science Lab maintained by the ECE department
A MEMS wet and dry lab maintained by the MAE department
A Micro Fluids lab maintained by the MAE department
A Dynamic Environment Simulation lab maintained by the MAE department

My mistake. Back in the spring my professor didn't have this much information and now he is the head of the MAE department.

No problem. They've kind of been bad about getting info out about this building. I had no idea what was gonna be in it until about a week ago...
that dang building was supposed to be started 2 years ago I was told. Took them long enough. Glad they're finally getting a clean room. The one at UM is nice and GT is awesome. Anyone been in our "Clean room" before? it's a little lacking...

haha! I was Information Systems.

That video looks awesome. Excited about that!
Where's the cool rendering?

For the Research Building? They have like 3 or 4 around the construction site, can't find anything online. I'll take a picture tomorrow or sunday and upload it.
Wow they are still working on Maglev, i figured we had given up on that by now.

People were working on it at the end of the track near Powhatan Avenue at the beginning of the summer or end of the spring semester. Here is the most recent article I could find about it that does say it is not done being used.

Haha! I didn't forget about this! Here are the photos I took.

Also, I was walking by the Ted today and it seems they're putting up a really cool banner thing on the front to celebrate the 10th anniversary. It isn't done yet but it looks really cool. Thought this'd be a good place for it.

Wow! I can't believe its been ten years already. Time flies.
Wow 10 years already? I remember when they gave the pep band a walk through during the final stages of construction. I have plenty of pictures of that.
