Great show, helluva premier last night (season 3).
The first season was a little slow, I really enjoyed the second season (especially the finale). This season is showing tons of promise.

Quickly becoming one of my favorite shows, especially due to the historical detail they've put into the writing, set, and costumes.

Yeah, I enjoy the authenticity of the show and the actors do well. I agree with you about season 1 and 2. Second season was really good towards the end, I thought, and this season looks like it's going to be crazy.

I can't decide my favorite between Boardwalk and Game of Thrones, they are both great. I really enjoyed the books by Martin though, so I do actually lean a little toward GOT.

I am one of those unfortunate people who started reading GoT years and years and years ago. I have become more and more and more displeased with GRRM's writing style and lack of writing GoT. I love the shows, even though the books are getting worse and worse. I hope the show combines books 4 and 5 into one season then finishes the series (whether the books are done or not) the following season.
My favorite show on TV. Haven't seen the premiere last night yet, but, I will watch it tonight.

I've never seen a more shocking season finale than what they gave us last year.

I think one of my favorite episodes was in Season 1 when Nucky sank his Senator's presidency over road money at the 1920 Republican Convention.

"The only way you're gonna see the Whitehouse is on a guided F***ing tour!"
One of the best shows out there.
The acting in this show is just superb!. THIS is good TV.

I've read the books and I agree - his writing style strikes me as sub-par and it's the one time in my life that I can say the TV show is actually better than the book (although the books do provide additional color around the characters and world).

I don't expect Hemmingway or Stein in every single new author, but it just seems like we're settling for average writers now (the #1 book right now is 50 shades of grey if that tells us anything - the one paragraph of it I saw in an article read like a seventh grader wrote it).
Interesting comments on Game of Thrones and the books. I am loving that show as well, I've seen all the episodes except the season 2 finale. Hope to get a chance to watch it this week. I have been tempted to read the books, but I am notoriously slow at reading books, I don't think I could get through them. I'll become a good book reader again after my kids are grown, I was a good one before they came along. Not that I would trade... just saying.

I actually enjoyed "A Dance With Dragons," it kind of feels like it will get back on track and come full circle in the next two. I think he created such a large world that a few books seemed drawn out and a little boring, imo. Mainly books 3&4 were that way to me, but I still enjoyed them.

I'll grant you that Feast was trash, but Dance wasn't that bad. Nothing will top Storm, but those days are gone. I just hope he doesn't pull a Robert Jordan and die.
