Ugly, Bad, Good.

I don't think we generally gained anything from this game except getting the reserves some extra pt. I'm beginning to think BB's achilles heel is that he is just "too" nice a coach (although that is a good human trait, it can be a problem in a warlike game like CFB IMO).

First off, playing a team noone ever heard of, is bad from the standpoint of TU selling season tickets, sparking interest and a game like this one is applied by TU as a reason to schedule a road warrior game like Arkansas for the umteenth time for the money. But the reality is actually the reverse. We end up losing money at home "after" we trade that for road money.

IMO last nights game did not prepare us for Fresno St, a team that can come in here and really put a hurt on our chances of a successful season.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Here I go again, but I just do not see the improvement in CG (or any of the QB's for that matter) that we need and I've already expressed my feelings that that development is coach related IMO. None of the QBs shows me the efficiency that will win a big game. CG still has a tough time throwing off the front foot at times, misreads the open receiver and again does not square up on rollouts. These are all trainable mistakes that "must" be eliminated quickly or will be ingrained for the rest of the season IMO. IMO Gus M and C Morris would have eliminated those mistakes by now. I hate criticising BB about this because I think he's an excellent HC so far, but this problem will come back to bite him on the backside if it isn't delt with. (We seem to be the opposite of June Jones, a good QB coach that isn't necessarily a good HC IMO). And I haven't seen Fresno play, but my guess is that you'll see a better and more well developed QB next week IMO.

A problem area last night actually was the OLine IMO. There were times we should have been able to dominate the inside run game, but didn't. And we had mismatches all over the field in receiver height, speed and ability that were not utilized. Roberson was wide open deep several times and not thrown to (once again showing a problem of the QB being too "zoned in" on one player), and why we don't run CG more with his size and strength, I don't know. Our TE position that has been a scoring threat in recent years is now officially just a blocker. And the tempo is still too slow IMO. We are beginning to resemble the "hesitate and signal" offensive days of Dave Rader instead of the hurry up and score of Gus and Chad IMO.

Defensively, Nicholls actually had more success than Tulane and that is a bad omen IMO. Our secondary, although McCoil got his career leading interception, is still vulnerable IMO. LBer play actually has improved somewhat except for Deandre - who was mostly invisible last night IMO.

Kicking game was better except for the shanked punt late in the game by Way and some coverage issues on the KO.

The score was 66-16, but which Louisiana victory yesterday held more weight in the eyes of the public and media, OSU's (LLU) win or ours? A win and 60 points scored against a 2011 bowl winner in Stillwater or a DIAA school that noone ever heard of?
