I know the opponent was Bethune-Cookman, but still! I wonder how many came late?

The attendance was 39,435 in the box score.
This was prior to kickoff. I was there (and I can see myself! i think. maybe. kinda hard as they're all blurry blobs. haha) and most of the crowd actually was in the endzones and the home side. A good portion of them came late though, with the highest crowd numbers in the late 1st and early 2nd quarters.

From my estimations of seeing the whole stadium there were probably about 30k butts-in-seats at the max time. 40k tickets sold is accurate. Bethune-Cookman isn't a headline opponent. FWIW our last FCS home opener (IIRC) was FAMU and there was an announced attendance of 44k for that so 40k isn't really that far off... And with our stinky game against K-State (reason we didn't have more I'm sure. if we had beaten them it woulda been 50k easy) and the really, really good home schedule upcoming those numbers will up dramatically. Next is NCSU, should be 55-60k at least.

I've seen Miami people say 25,000.
Miami's attendance has never been very good but this is just awful.
When did UAb start playing at Joe Robbie???
You know what. I won't even try. Yes, the crowd was bad, but seriously? It's a damn noon game with 100* heat index and every single person there got sunburned or very tanned. It's Bethune-Cookman. Check back at the Florida State game and tell me if that crowd is 300 people too. Yes, I know I'm punchy... But for real. Let it go.

The "U" is a big time program with big time expectations. Guess what, everywhere in the south starts the season with 100 degree heat with a heat index in the 110's. I don't care who you are playing, there should be a better crowd then that. But let's think about where we are talking about. This is also the area that brings 2000 people to a MLB game, I don't care if it's a new stadium or not, Miami people don't support these clubs. So go cry somewhere else about people making fun of your lack of support. Maybe the C-USA board will listen with a sympathetic ear. 03-hissyfit

I'm not crying about it. If anything, I'm laughing at Yahoo! Sports for having such a grudge against the U. Whatever. 01-wingedeagle
