Ohio drops from receiving 11 votes to 2 votes. Weird, I guess they are basing it off of Penn State's loss and not Ohio's win.

USA Today Coaches Poll.

You want to change that to "poll" and not "polls." 17 votes in the AP.
yeah and the coaches also dropped USC behind LSU despite the Trojans' whipping of Syracuse (which included a cross-country trek to the Meadowlands to play the game). 01-wingedeagle
Truth is, betting NMSU does not impress any pollsters, but lose that game and oh boy........it is strait to the bottom!

Also, unless PSU does a turn around, beating them is looking less and less impressive. I would not be surprised if they go win less.
I would hate to be the team that loses to them.
I'm more shocked that ULM only received 1 vote in the Coaches Poll...

Absolutely bare minimum amount of love given to Ohio and ULM...

With any luck, it will be Illinois. 02-13-banana But it will probably be Iowa. 03-weeping
If Ohio takes care on business it will be there at the end. If they get past @Marshall next week that will win over a lot of doubters. A lot Ohio fans including myself want to see a road win at Marshall before talking BCS run. That place has been a house of horrors for Ohio football in recent decades. A win in Huntington and then the debate about how high can the Bobcats rise in the polls. Ohio-Marshall is always a big game. Ohio win at Marshall would be huge for the reputation of the MAC. Marshall is a favorite in CUSA East division this year. Ohio the favorite in the MAC. Ohio won in Athens last year over Marshall, but at Huntington is different. Marshall will not overlook Ohio like last year. We smacked them bad last year. Marshall has a great QB as well and this will be a shootout.

you give Marshall way to much credit, beating a CUSA team does nothing for the MAC, especially one from today's watered down version of CUSA, and one that has been bowl eligible just twice in the past 7 years. The only thing Ohio gains with a win is a chance to flirt with perfection for another week. Marshall is the one looking to use this as a statement win for their program.
I think that the win over PSU lost its appeal to the voters. An average to below average UVA team overcame four turnovers to beat PSU on Saturday. I think most voters think PSU only has a chance to win the Navy; Indiana and Temple games this year and that is iffy.

The NCAA sanctions against PSU are having their effect.

It will be a cold day in hell when Marshall looks at a win over any MAC team as a "statement win." Their string of recent losses to MAC teams in a couple of sports has them near suicidal already. A win over a MAC team would just slow the bleeding.
Not that I disagree with you, Axe, but Marshall fans are talking up this game as the most important in years.
They know it would be crushing to lose to Ohio at home. It would let all the air out of yet another season. And, as you know, a lot of it is "How has it come to the point where we are underdogs at home to a MAC team? We cannot lose this game."
It would be equally crushing for what may be considered the MAC's top team to lose to Marshall. Huge game for OU for their credibility and that of the conference. A convincing win in Huntington here would help put an exclamation point on that the MAC may becoming a stronger conference than C-USA.
Double must-win situation! Very embarrassing for either team to lose: it really takes the air out of the loser's season.
1977 during the Carter Administration was the last time we won in Huntington.
If OU loses they are over-rated. I will not say: "OU, the MAC's best team lost to Marshall". I would say: "OU was thought to be the MAC's best team, but is actually 3rd or 4th best, and it will come down to the OU vs. BG game to determain the East". I strongly believe that the best team in the conference is better than Marshall...
I agree that OU is the better team and should win, BUT this is a rivalry game and if OU comes in too confident and MU is just the right amount of angry.. I think we'll be fine, but stranger things have happened.

I'll let the team know what's at stake.
