We should have kept him. We were consistently going to bowl games on a somewhat regular basis...the only down side was facility upgrades. Maybe he was right whenever he said his firing speech. We should have kept him.

I agree.
Porter was a disastrous hire; however, I really believe Fuente will be a good one in time.

The team has been getting worse every year since the peak in 2003.
2007 and 2008 we went 13-13 and lost 2 bowl games. We had the 119 and 114 ranked strength of schedules those years. We haven't had even an average team since 2005. The past three years were imo the worst three year stretch in tiger fb history. This year is rock bottom. we hoped 2010 was, we hoped 2011 was but I think 2012 will be as low as we go and at some point this year the worm will turn; it probably won't show up in wins but we'll know it when it happens. 2013 may finally be that 3-4 win year to build on we've been waiting for for 4 years....
There is no doubt that West was right. The facilities and assts salaries were lagging way behind. An AD change and a renewed focus on improving football probably would have made a difference. He probably finally decided, if they (AD and big boosters) dont care, why should I? Sure, he was gtting paid to care, but he probably truly felt that the facilities were keeping him from getting the players he needed, so he stopped trying to get them. Of course, his heart issue MAY have played a role, but he still had a lot of fire in that final press conference.
Given all of that. I really like what I see and hear from Fuente and I think he will right the ship and we will have to open the wallet to keep him here beyond 2016.
I was on the fire Tommy bandwagon, I can fully admitt it but that exit speech fires me up tp this day. I'd love to have a sit down with him and hear the specifics on the negativity he speaks of. Something tells me he is talking alot deeper than the crap that is spewed here everday.
