When the clock hits 0:00, they zero in for an on-the-field interview with the LOSING coach rather than the winner.

Yeah, kind of strange.

Maybe Solich gets an award for best supporting actor in the drama.
Not too surprising, considering they spent most of the game talking about Penn State. Not sure they're aware that there were actually 2 teams on the field, and that the one team was an underdog from an underdog conference, and that team won on the road in front of a crowd of close to 100K. Ho hum.
The lead story this a.m. on ESPN.com was about the weekend with the PSU football program and campus. In the national media's eyes, the story this weekend was not Ohio's win; it was PSU's loss. Those are much different stories.
Penn State All-Access

While there are a smattering of good OU stories around, the predominant story is still PSU's big loss.

Quote:"Obviously, we were the better team," Belton said. He gave Ohio credit for the victory but that wasn't what he felt in his heart. "They got their confidence up. We play this game on another day, 10 times out of 10 we're beating this team."

To the big media, it's not a Washington Generals win story that their readers want. They want the Globetrotters loss story.

yeah i read that quote by Belton and thought what an incredibly arrogant idiot! LOL of course, his words are easy to say since he can't actually prove what he's saying is correct. jerk! sore loser! LOL and yeah i thought it was quite strange that they interviewed the losing head coach but i guess that's par for the course.
to hell with espn. they're currently beating the dead horse that is the stephen strasburg story. it's like they think if they talk about something enough, it can make strasburg pitch in october, or make penn state not lose to ohio.

i personally see it as an ohio win, AND a penn state loss. i'm more for congratulting the winner, instead of having a pity party for the loser.
congrats OU, I'm rooting for you all throughout this season, along with Miami, NIU, etc.

Don't forget about Tim Tebow. ESPN loves him like a hooker getting a negative blood test result. LOL

That really sucks. And it's not like it was a fluke win; the Bobcats dominated.

Shame on you, ESPN.

LK it is your turn:

Go to a PSU board or better yet write the PSU AD, send him the quote and indicate that Ohio will gladly play PSU again next year in the Cowboy Classic in Dallas (UofM didn't set a too high bar Saturday night) or Cleveland Brown Stadium or another neutral venue.

EMU can give up our date with PSU if Ohio/PSU will fork over 200K or so...

A footnote for the younger MAC fans, CMU beat MSU and MSU fans said it was a fluke. The next year CMU beat them again. Amazing!

Surely Mr. Belton doesn't know that story or else he is a foolish young man...
Mr. Belton ought to review page 110 of the CMU media guide. In 1991/1992 CMU beat and then beat again MSU.

MSU was nationally ranked in 1991.

They won't let us forget about Tebow. Can't believe they spend so much time discussing a crappy QB who's a backup to a mediocre QB on a crappy team.

Um, Mr. Belton, you didn't play this game on "another" day. Therefore your team was victorious against Ohio University 0 times out of 1. I suggest you now turn your attention to defeating Virginia 1 time out of 1.

or that they spent 2 weeks sensationalizing an overrated back up nba player on a losing knicks team. said player is barely in the nba anymore and had to be picked up by the desperate houston rockets.

Whoa. One of the more sought after free agents who just signed a 3 year, $25 mil. contract is "barely in the NBA"? He's moved into the the upper echelon of NBA players, whether you like his game or not. 90% of the league wishes they were as poorly off as he is.
