OK. Last night I was fuming because a 2-10 Sun Belt team scheduled a traditional FCS power.

Tonight, I had to go look up who the heck Wagner is. First thought was Staten Island? Well of course they would feel comfortable in Boca.

Then I did some digging and find out that they are in a conference that was capping football scholarships at 34 and is in the process of phasing the limit up to 40.

Uh, you can't count an FCS win toward bowl eligibility unless they have averaged at least 57 scholarships awarded per year over the last two years.

WHY SCHEDULE AN FCS GAME THAT DOESN'T COUNT TOWARD BOWL ELIGIBILITY???????

And your commissioner is more worried about scheduling body bag games? I think it sounds like you have more pressing problems.

Remember though FAU was awful last year. They failed to win a single Sun Belt game and would have gone winless if they hadn't played a CUSA team.

MTSU likewise was awful. Playing FAU saved them from going winless in league play. They had already been saved from a winless season by playing a CUSA team.

None of us have lost to an FCS team... 01-wingedeagle You seem to forget USM won the conference last year. They are still with us. And the SBC is still stuck with MTSU and FAU.
Its what I keep telling the few GSU fans mad that we were left out of CUSA. 1) The schools that made it attractive are mostly gone (except for USM and ECU). 2) For the ACC and SEC alumni and fans in Atlanta there is zero difference in their minds between CUSA and SBC.

But, you have lost to those that have lost to 1AA, so...

Look, until UAB doe anything of any significance in football, maybe you should get a cup of coffee and relax. My boys had been terrible for years up until last year.. It is a world of "what have you done for me lately", and last year we lit it up, so there you go..

As for USM, they hired a bunch of old timers with Ricky Bustle as their O coordinator... I will be surprised if they keep up the standard with which they are use too.

Not this season we haven't. This is 2012 LA LA man. By your logic since USM has beaten UA in the distant past so USM won the national title last season. Transitive property does not count in football.

are you really willing to claim USM will drop off with this coach? What are you wanting to bet?

You lost Houston, SMU, UCF, and football powerhouse Memphis.

You replaced them with:
FIU picked to win the league this year, but they were picked to win it last year also.
North Texas, God love 'em they are doing some good stuff but they've been a punching bag for the most part for the last 7 years.
La.Tech who balances each good year with a bad 2 or so and has a fan base that seems to be missing at times.
UTSA who has not played an FBS schedule and will not play an FBS schedule until next year.
Old Dominion never played an FBS schedule and will not play an FBS schedule until 2014 and left CUSA waiting in the living room until they were sure they wanted to come down for the date.
Charlotte who hasn't played a game in football.

You still have USM. But you don't have an SMU, Houston, or UCF to push them.

Remember when there was these two amazing football programs in Florida who made their own claim to national dominance over UF? They moved away from tough national schedules for the security and access of a conference. The problem is the easy path of playing some really easy conference games and not being pushed let them lose their edge. Success was easier to achieve and the quality of their teams suffered.

You have USM but the question is whether USM of 2016 will be as a good as USM of 2011 when winning CUSA is easier to achieve.
UTSA who has yet to play an FBS schedule (happens this year).

Probably would have been less of a black eye for the SBC, and FBS football for that matter, if MTSU and FAU had started on Saturday, then there scores could have gotten lost in the crowed.

LOL...The SBC is "stuck" with FAU? FAU is in the process of recovering from a few years of poor management, but our program has more of a history of success than UAB and is in a much stronger position for future success than UAB has ever been. That's not even taking into account that as terrible as we are right now, we still beat you last year! So you may want to re-consider who is "stuck" with who...

And don't forget that the two SBC teams your conference is adding next year (FIU and UNT) are both 2 years removed from being in the exact position (or worse) that FAU and MTSU are in now.

I can't answer that other than to say it was the last move by our former AD, who didn't do a lot of things that made much sense in the last couple of years.

The game was scheduled late and then played on a Friday to accomodate Wagner, who wanted to fly out Saturday and not Sunday. Not sure how they came up with Wagner. From what I hear, the new AD (and Pelini for that matter) weren't pleased with the game, the date, or the marketing FAU did for it, but couldn't do anything about it by the time he got here (he started 3 weeks ago). So it is what it is...or was.

Here is the deal. We had an agreement all but done to play Tennessee State( a local 1AA school) but they backed out on us last minute and didn't even have the courtesy to let us know. Our AD found out about it on ESPN. They screwed us last minute. We were about to play AT Georgia State until the McNeese State game opened up and was scheduled. We had our hands tied and had to play the game.

Our AD said that we will no longer schedule Tennessee State in any sport going forward.

There's no doubt that there are some weak sisters in CUSA, the MAC, the MWC, and the Sun Belt. The real question is which conference offers the best chance (i.e. the best competition, national exposure, and money) for those weak sisters to improve. Right now, CUSA and the MWC are those two conferences. I don't see anything happening that will change that anytime soon. With the expansion of the former AQ conferences, the non AQ's will all take a hit. Things will be clearer after one more round of realignment. That's when we'll all know who else moves where.

Really dude? Reallly?

Your league has diminished in strength considerably and you come along and have to hang on to USM's coattails in order to have ANYTHING to talk about?

Ha ha ha

That's like hanging out with the HS quarterback who has a rep of having a big one hoping that when girls see you with him, they'll think you have a big one too.

Give me a break.

The BCS has been busted seven times.
Four of those times the buster came from the MWC.
Three of those times the buster came from the WAC when the WAC was basically Boise State and a bunch of MAC/Sun Belt/low CUSA caliber teams.

If you want the nation to pay attention to you, run the table. Having a few dogs isn't the worst thing for that.
