Posted by Randy Lange on August 31, 2012 – 12:35 pm

The Jets have announced some of their final cuts in reducing their roster from 75 to 60 players. The cuts include sixth-round rookie OL Robert Griffin, QB Matt Simms and veteran DE Jay Richardson. Here is the list of 15 players the Jets have released, all on waivers:

QB — Matt Simms

WR — Joseph Collins, Eron Riley

OL — Robert Griffin

TE — Tarren Lloyd

DL — Jay Richardson, Martin Tevaseu

LB — Marcus Dowtin, Brett Roy

DB — LeQuan Lewis, D’Anton Lynn, Julian Posey

P — Spencer Lanning

The Jets still have to move seven more players to get to the NFL-mandated 53-player active/inactive roster maximum by 9 p.m. ET. Head coach Rex Ryan could announce them during his news conference today at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center, scheduled for about 2:50 p.m. Or the final transactions could be announced after that. We’ll get them to you as soon as we have that information.
Thanks for the update. Pleae keep us posted.

Pro football doesn't always come down to talent. Often comes down to guaranteed contracts that have to be paid regardless. It's a numbers game as well as a talent game.

I think he'll hook on with someone, and if he can stay healthy, have a good career. I wouldn't say he's done by any means.
