Hopefully goes better than our Titanic debacle
Let's not have another FCS loss... I was thinking of maybe going tonight, but I have stuff until 6pm and no way to get to FAU Stadium... In any case - I'm watching it on ESPN3. Go FAU, Go SBC!

Three keys for FAU's season opener
By Dieter Kurtenbach
12:46 p.m. EDT, August 31, 2012

Three things to watch:

1. Stephen Curtis' passing ability

The sophomore quarterback has been handed the keys to the car (we'll see if it's a brand new machine or a beater soon.) The Owls will run the ball with Curtis under center, but it will be his passing ability that should be the most scrutinized aspect of his game.

Against Wagner, Curtis should have open lanes and receivers. If his passing is lackluster Friday, that won't bode well for the rest of the season.

2. Wide receiver rotation

The Owls are deep at receiver. They might not be top-heavy, but the team will utilize a strong rotation.

One of the big questions heading into the regular season is if the team can find a go-to receiver. For an inexperienced quarterback, having a safety-blanket receiver could be vital to future success.

Who clicks, who doesn't? Against Wagner, it's important to find out now.

3. Time of possession

If the Owls can't put up points, and keep points off the board against Wagner, it, of course, does not bode well for the season going forward. but one stat stat that must be improved upon for the Owls in 2012 is time of possession. The Owls need to keep their defense off the field this season, as last season, FAU's decent defense was stretched beyond it's limits, having to play an average of 12 more plays a game than opponents.
What happened to the JUCO QB. I saw that he is inelligible, but why? Grades?

kind of complex, but pretty much the major he wanted was filled 03-banghead

He is practicing on the scout team, but just waiting for a space to open up.
I think Pelini is a decent coach so I'm expecting no issues here.

As in, he might be able to get elligible at some point this season?

I saw some video of him, he looked pretty good.

How big of a drop off to Stephen Curtis?
Why is FAU playing a non-counter FCS?

Wagner gives what, 36 schollies?

No idea,

I would prefered to play a Bethune Cookman or FAMU to draw more of a local crowd since they are Florida schools.

I know they wanted an FCS warmup and I guess this is what they could get.

Can't they just make up a major for him and some classes to go along with it? Some UNC friends say you can.

Good luck versus Vogner, Owls!
