Gah! 01-lauramac2

Quote:The Worldwide Leader has elected to end the simulcast of sporting events shown on ESPN's cable nets to ESPN3—a service available to 73 million cable subscribers—and instead restrict those online feeds to viewers whose cable provider subscribes to the WatchESPN service (which reaches about half as many viewers).

WatchESPN is the service that allows subscribers to watch ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU programming on their computer or mobile device; ESPN is now limiting ESPN3 to "exclusive programming," such as Sri Lankan Premier League cricket which is currently airing on ESPN3.

c'mon u-verse, get on this NOW
The man strikes again....
What!!! 01-lauramac2 I guess I will have to got back to some "alternate" techniques again.
Basically they're not showing the events that were already showed on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU. The other stuff should still be on ESPN3. Most of the MAC games will still be on there, since MAC games are on ESPN on Tuesday nights and never otherwise.

I was hoping that's what it meant - but from all the outrage I've seen online, I was starting to think that may not be the case.

If we can still watch our Broncos online, all is well in the world. 04-rock
But it means if it's on ESPNU like Saturday you won't be able to watch it. Which really stinks if you don't have ESPNU like me!

And me!

So back to my original sentiment... 01-lauramac2
They weren't very good about putting ESPNU games on before this because ESPNU is on about half the TVs that ESPN and ESPN2 are. There were a handful of ESPNU games I ended up watching on Sundays last year on replay.

Like i said, alternate methods, i think there are a few around that haven't been shut down. But the video quality is usually lacking. 03-hissyfit
Circumstances don't always allow it...but I highly recommend visiting a local watering hole to watch ESPNU.

...but I have better (and cheaper) beer at home! 04-cheers
I'm trying a service called playon to stream to my TV thru my Wii, we'll see how the video quality is in about 90 minutes.
Go figure. I get ESPNU but my ISP (CenturyLink) does not subscribe to watchESPN or ESPN3.
Will somebody please clue me in to these "alternate methods"?

03-shhhh If you have to ask, you're not ready...
So Dish doesn't get the Big Eleven Whatever channels any longer?

Don't know for sure. What I had read was that the contract with Dish expires today, August 31. Timed for maximum disruption for those who really want the B1G network. I pretty much only watch it when the games are MAC vs. B1G.
Wow, this is getting nasty. They pull this stunt each year, between Direct and Dish getting in hot water. Glad our corporations behave so well together giving us the best possible product.
