MARSHALL GAME RELEASE
Quote:West Virginia (No. 11 Associated Press Poll/No. 11 USA Today Coaches Poll) opens its 2012 season against Marshall in a non-conference game on Saturday, Sept. 1, in the “Friends of Coal” Bowl at Milan Puskar Stadium (60,000) at noon. The game will be televised live on FX.

Marshall is coached by John “Doc” Holliday, a 1979 graduate of West Virginia. The third-year coach has posted a 12-13 record in his two years in Huntington. Holliday served 23 years as a Mountaineer assistant coach for Frank Cignetti (1979), Hall of Famer Don Nehlen (1980-99) and most recently for former head coach Bill Stewart (2008-09).

This marks the second meeting between WVU coach Dana Holgorsen and Marshall’s Holliday. Holgorsen holds a 1-0 series mark against Holliday and Marshall after winning last year’s weather-shortened game in Morgantown, 34-13, the season opener for both squads.

IMO any chance for Marshall to keep it close went down with Martinez...

Marshall RB Tron Martinez Out Against WVU
Quote:West Virginia will be game planning for one less member of the Thundering Herd offense this week as it prepares for the season opener against Marshall.

During Tuesday’s press conference, Marshall head coach Doc Holliday announced that starting running back Tron Martinez will not play this weekend when his team comes to Morgantown.

WVU head coach Dana Holgorsen had his press conference at the same time on Tuesday and had not been informed of the news by the time his briefing came to an end.
Was thinking the same thing about Tron. Cato better be good or it's blowout city. Still may be anyway.
