Curious, other than pep rallys, do you have organized student spirit events ?

DENTON, Texas (8/23/12) - North Texas students are invited to come out to Apogee Stadium on Monday, Aug. 27 from 6-8 p.m. to get ready for the football season at our Student Spirit Night.

Come out and see Head Coach Dan McCarney and the entire Mean Green Football team as they get you excited about the final season in the Sun Belt Conference. Students will have a chance to catch punts from Mean Green kickers and try to catch passes from our Mean Green Quarterbacks. Prizes will be given away throughout the night.

The Green Brigade Marching band will be there as well as the North Texas Cheerleaders, Dancers and Scrappy.

There will be free food from local Denton vendors Papa John's, Sweetwater, Chicken Express, Buffalo Wild Wings, Kolache Haven, Carino's Itilian, Palios Pizza, Jason's Deli, Little Ceasar's, and Mellow Mushroom.

The entrance is located on the east side of the stadium at the student entrance. The gates will not open until 6 pm. Bring your friends and show your school spirit. Go Mean Green!

TROY has band day, which isnt really anything to do with College students as much as it is for High School Students...High School Bands from mainly Alabama, Georgia and Florida come to TROY for 1 football game a year (this year is FIU) and watch the game in the stands and see a real college game day experience. At halftime all the High Schools join the Sound of the South on the field for 1 big 3500-4,000 marching band on the field...Its a great experience for the kids and increases attendance at that home game.

Other than the week long homecoming events for football, we have yearly Mardi Gras and Lagniappe Week events. Mardi Gras includes a university parade with the selected king & queen with university groups having floats. Lagniappe week is an upgraded version of the original Lagniappe day, which was a day in the spring where the university would supply boiled crawfish & beer for students. They have added other activities for students to this original one day activity, but still boil 10000 pound of crawfish for students. I don't know if they still have the free beer, but it was a long time ago when I attended. :-)

You have my attention.... 04-cheers
We just had our annual Bonfire. We get a lot of wood and ATO (the first IFC fraternity at FAU) get's to build the team's mascot from the first game of the year. A couple bands play, the cheerleaders and dance team (God bless the dance team) does there thing. The coach and a couple players go up on stage and say a few words, and then give the rest of the football team the word to light the fire. While the fire is burning the headliner to the concert takes stage. This year, it's the Misfits. I just heard a fire truck go by, so I hope the Boca Airport (300 yards away from campus) didn't complain again.
Middle has Welcome Week, of course, and they incorporate the game into an event. During sorority recruitment, they usually make it a requirement for all of the girls rushing to go to the game, as well as ALL of the Greek organizations. We also have "Spirit Day" where local highschool cheer and dance teams perform at halftime. And we ALWAYS have RaiderWalk. During Tailgate, 2 to 2.5 hours before the game, the band will march in playing with cheer and dance teams, and the football team strolls through to shake hands, etc. while Coach Stock may make a speech. This year, the Athletic Association did a travel thing over a period of 2-3 weeks where they would visit different locations all around Murfreesboro and set up the big inflatable MT helmet. They would have some players available, and just promote MT Athletics. We also recently held the Grand Opening for the Jeff Hendrix Stadium Club and the public was invited. That's all I can think of though.
Here's a little video of Coach Pelini speaking to the students, followed by the dance team and the football team showing off some moves. At the very end you can see the begining of the fire get started.
Just one more week.

I don't know what we did as for as students, but Louisiana had Fall Sports Fan Day today and a little over 5,700 were in attendance.

here is the link to the photo gallery http://ragincajuns.com/photo_gallery.asp...ogalleries from there select all galleries and it will be the first to show up if anyone in interested.
Since MTalum09 answered about MT, I think our first home game at Miami is band day - sorta like what Troy does. We're playing Bethune-Cookman, so I think that should help the attendance for that game...
