If the MAC was smart they would split and take the WAC name for the MAC west and take the autobid to the NCAA tournament and moves its HQ to Detroit and play the MAC in the Boise and Detroit Bowls with the MAC still in the Mobile and Detroit Bowls. ESPN and STO could then sign a separate deal with the new WAC. WAC hoops tournament in Detroit with the MAC hoops tournament in Cleveland. This would be a way to one up the power grab by the power conferences and steal an automatic bid for the NCAA tournament and get more NCAA money.

There are a few other non football schools in the WAC that wouldn't just go away.

Wow, actually makes sense. Would make quite a bit of extra money also.

You must ship the water in from Athens.

Extra money? How so? Please enlighten us with how Idaho and New Mexico State would line our pockets with extra cash.

Not surprising you'd say that considering the hairbrained realignment schemes your conference has been a part of.
Idaho left the WAC last week.
All you will have left after this football season is New Mexico State, Denver and Seattle.
Denver and Seattle do not play football and are rumored to leave unless they bring in some scrub basketball (non-football) schools.
So really if an agreement was made it would just be dealing with NMSU, and they are rumored to be going independent because the WAC announced that they would not be playing football after this year because of lack of football schools.

You could have two conferences with mutual agreements between the two. Sell two football and basketball packages, have two auto bids, and negotiate with more people. Really would make more money. In addition you would have two shares of BCS money coming down to the two conferences. Money, money, money.

P.S. - You don't have to tell me how bad my conference screwed up. Ridiculous to go after schools only because of markets (that they do not even own) and ignore decent football and basketball schools. But they failed to consult with me about it.

that makes zero sense....for more than one reason
Don't see the down side really. Every school would make more money, no doubt about that and that is one of the prime reasons to have conferences.

Idaho's BOT approved a move for their sports to move as needed. They did not yet leave the WAC.

But I dont think its a good idea.
