just wondering how many people actually travel to regular season away games and how often in a season?

I try and do two a year. 04-cheers
It depends on the game. I doubt I ever buy a plane ticket to see Memphis play Boise State in football, but I wouldn't mind driving to see a game in Louisville.
I would actually like to put Boise on the list to go to when the new league truly gets going. Wilkie I think thats a good strategy...pick 1 or 2 a year and rotate around is what I will try to start doing soon, maybe starting with at Boise :)

And the goal would be to go to each school at least once. 04-cheers
I try to make at least 1 a year. So far I've been to Annapolis (2x and can't wait until 2014's trip), UConn (once and never again) and UNC (once and would excitedly go again.) This year I will be at the Temple game.

I have been to:

Navy
West Virginia
Memphis
Cincinnati
Kentucky
Virginia Tech
North Carolina
Tennessee
Michigan State
Illinois
Indiana
I go to one home game and at least one away game a year (sometimes more depending on location). I have a house in NC but work in DC, so I've been lucky to atend Navy games and ECU games that SMU played in. Going to Tulane this year since the wife has never been to Nola.

And I always go to the bowl games, since its a relatively new experience for us younger Ponyfans.

Can't wait to travel through the new Big east.
I try to see a Tigers road game every year, but don't always do. Here is where I've been and where I plan on going the next few years...

1994 Mississippi W 17-16
1995 Arkansas (at Little Rock) L 20-27
1995 Tulane W 23-8
1998 Mississippi L 10-30
1999 Tennessee L 16-17
2001 Louisville L 21-38
2001 Tennessee L 28-49
2002 Mississippi L 16-38
2002 UAB L 17-31
2003 Southern Mississippi L 6-23
2003 Tulane W 41-9
2003 New Orleans Bowl W 27-17
2004 UAB L 28-35
2004 GMAC Bowl L 52-35
2005 Motor City Bowl W 38-31
2006 Mississippi L 25-28
2007 New Orleans Bowl L 27-44
2008 Mississippi L 24-41
2009 MTSU L 14-31
2011 Tulane W 33-17
2012 SMU
2013 Louisville
2014 Miami
I try and get to one away game per year, whether it be the bowl game or our big season opener. This year it'll likely be our bowl game since I'm not going to East Lancing.

You east coasters are soooo lucky to have so many other schools within driving distance.

So do I - more if they are within 500 miles. Went to Arkansas State. Middle Tenn and Tulane last year. Will at least go to Arkansas State and Marshall this year (and still hoping for a bowl game trip, though it will take a miraculous turnaround). I really look forward to visiting all Big East schools in the future.
Most of my travel is due to my ridiculous work schedule. I'm on the road 40 weeks a year, so making home games has been tough for me lately. If I'm anywhere near where the Tigers are playing, I'll be there. I even caught a road basketball game at Cincinnati a few years back.
I travel to the regional road games. I've been to Lexington and Cincinnati a few times, and to Nashville. I have been to Morgantown once, but I had no interest in returning. Kentucky and Cincinnati are really the only road teams we play within travelling distance. Well there was WVU, but their fans make it an unenjoyable experience. With Memphis joining I will probably make that trip again as well, though probably for the basketball game in place of the football game.
When Temple was in the MAC it was difficult, being in the Big East makes it much more manageable. This year I will make the trip to the OC game at Army, and maybe to UConn. Rutgers will be an easy one for me, it closer than going to the Temple home games, but I will always try and shoot for at least 1 per season.
If its within an 8 hour drive I will try to go. Im hearing we could be setting up dates with home & home plus a game in (Lucas Oil) against Indiana. Would be a real treat for UofL fans and a great road trip. Always look forward to the Memphis & Cincinnati away games. Just for my own good ECU is a fun road game, got lots of family in NC and So Va.
As a Memphis fan, living in Connecticut, I'm planning on going to UConn, Rutgers, and Temple games in football. Numerous other games in basketball.
I have never gone to any away games, but I plan to starting next year.
I live in Ohio so the only Boise State games I can go to are away games. Been to the 2009 game at Bowling Green, last year's game at Toledo and will be going to this year's opener against Michigan State.
I usually go about 2 away games a year: Reno every other year to play the Wolf Pack, and Las Vegas to take on UNLV and also to Sin City to appear in the Vegas Bowl to beat Arizona State last year. The Nevada trips are a blast as you can imagine it is full of drinking, gambling and debauchery. Also within a days drive of Boise have been away games to SLC to play Utah, Seattle to play the Huskies, and south of Portland to play Oregon and Oregon State.

The only time I have flown to an away game was to go to Hawaii to play the Warriors on a four day package. It was so fun two years later we went again to play them and spent 2 weeks in the Islands. That is one of the greatest away game destinations imaginable.

Being in the nBE is going to give more trips if we can afford them: the San Diego and Florida trips for sure, and my wife is from NYC and has family there. Our future vacations are going to be tailored around attending BSU games at Rutgers and the others in the area.
I've only seen two regular season away games so far. My Dad's family lives near Birmingham and one year UCF was playing at UAB over Thanksgiving weekend, so it was convenient to visit them for the holiday and see the game while I was there. Unfortunately my family is full of Crimson Tide fans, despite many having actually attended UAB, so there wasn't much trash talking to be had. They got more worked up when we played MSU and UGA in the Liberty Bowl. I remember hearing all the "SEC! SEC!" crap after we lost to MSU, but not a peep after we beat UGA.

The other game I saw was ECU in Greenville. I moved to Maryland after graduating and Greenville is about a 5 hour drive from here so we made a weekend trip out of it. Since I live up north now (from the perspective of a southerner, Maryland is up north) I'm pretty excited about the geography of the new Big East. I'm going to have a lot more drivable games now than I did in CUSA.

I'm going to be adding at least one more regular season game this year. We're making the drive out to Columbus to see UCF play Ohio State this year. I'm considering going to the Marshall game as well but haven't decided yet.
