An open letter to Pitt and Syracuse fans from a Clemson fan.
I have very strong opinions on many things ACC related (realignment for Clemson, Pitt/SU joining the ACC, John Swofford, 9 game conference schedule, ACC divisions once Pitt/SU join, etc.). I have let Clemson’s president, AD, BOT, and head of the athletic fundraising group know of my opinions, concerns, and desires. What happens in the future concerning Clemson and possible changes within the ACC will be determined by Clemson's leaders as well as their counterparts at the other ACC institutions …… only time will tell what ultimately happens. All I know for sure is that right now, Pitt/SU will be joining the conference in 2013, all existing ACC teams are still in the conference, a 9 game conference schedule will be used, and the division alignment has been set. This is the hand that has been dealt and so, agree or not agree, we move on and play this hand until if/when something changes.
Having said all of the above, I would like to welcome Pitt and Syracuse fans to the ACC. I consider both schools to be excellent institutions that will each bring benefits to the ACC. I always attend at least one ACC away football game each year and will definitely be attending the Clemson games at Pitt and SU whenever we play you guys for the first time at your place. I wish all of the Pitt/SU fans the best in your new home. Now, let’s play some football!!
