Quote:While best known for co-writing the Deep Purple hit, "Smoke on the Water," Lord never strayed far from his classical roots. The band's "Concerto for Group and Orchestra" in 1969 was one of its first chart successes.

Combining his dazzling virtuosity on the keyboard with the equally virtuosic Ritchie Blackmore on the guitar, the band left behind a string of rock classics that showcased their musicianship: "Space Truckin," "Highway Star," "Child in Time."
Saw that a couple days ago. Many of the rock legends are up there in years now and have their maladies. It's amazing they can keep going like they do.

I still follow Foreigner a little bit. Guitarist and founder Mick Jones, whom I believe is 67 now, has been away from the band for a year recovering from some sort of circulatory ailment and surgery. Also, current keyboardist Michael Bluestein, who is only maybe 40ish, is also away from the band dealing with colorectal cancer.
"Burn" is still one of my favorite songs. I actually ran into Ritchie Blackmore in Toledo when I was working at the Holiday Inn as an Undergrad, when he was touring with Rainbow.

Rock n roll band sporting an intro to the disco look of the '70's. What a period of time that was....
Just since there was a thread about music i thought i would say this. I FINALLY got to see one of my favorite bands Iron Maiden last night....and that show was amazing. Probably the best ive ever seen. Alice Cooper opened and they were actually really cool to see as well. Way better than i thought about them
