Quote:ATHENS, Ohio - With less than two months remaining until the 2012 home opener, Ohio Football season tickets are experiencing an unprecedented demand.

When compared to the same week during the 2011 preseason, season ticket sales have nearly doubled with an increase of 92 percent. This number represents the greatest recorded increase in Ohio Football history.

Increases have been realized in all seating levels and locations throughout Peden Stadium, with the most dramatic demand seen in the Tower Club (72 percent increase), Phillips Club (81 percent increase) and Bobcat Family Package (148 percent increase) sections.

Bobcat fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets early to ensure their desired seating location for 2012. Near sellout demand is anticipated in the Tower Club and Bobcat Family Package sections.

I kinda thought you already posted the season ticket sales. Go Bobkittens!

P.S. I know you like the concept that Miami is somehow in some kind of "death spiral", but don't believe it! We have a good recruiting class and will be back, KC!
Agree ECK. Treadwell is not flashy but will have Miami fighting for titles sooner than later. I'm thinking the Bobcats are the favorites this year of course, but I think BG and Miami will be right in the mix for the East.

With Temple gone that likely puts Miami back as the #2 program in the MAC East.

The recruiting is always good by MAC standards for Miami because the Miami Valley (Cinncy-Dayton Metro) is the most talented High School recruiting area in the state. That is a huge advantage. If anything has changed in the recruiting dynamic its that Ohio has boxed BG out of Columbus (#2 Ohio FB recruiting area) with the rise of its program.

I also think a lot more of the 3 star players are staying home at MAC schools now instead of holding out for B1G or ACC schools particularly if they like the staff.

What do you view as the number 1 program in Mac east? Just curious. I don't follow the Mac as much anymore, but I always viewed them as a top 3 program in the entire Mac(even though I hate them)... Also, what would put temple above Miami while they were in the Mac? What has temple done ever? Other than get kicked out of the big east for not being able to compete.

How bout never playing in the MAC Championship, much less winning it? How bout never beating a MAC team that finished the season with a winning record?

Yep, that's Temple. 03-lmfao

He's talking football and I agree.

The #1 program in the MAC East currently is Ohio. Three division titles in the last 6 seasons. Two other second places finishes. Six consecutive wins over Miami. A record of 4-1 over Temple when they played in the MAC (the only loss coming in OT). By far the best attendance and season ticket base in the MAC East.

Most overall wins in the MAC since 2006.

If you take a 30 year view I would say the Top 5 programs in the MAC are Toledo, Miami, Central Michigan, Northern Illinois and Bowling Green. Those are your traditional MAC powers. WMU, Ball State and Ohio have sporadic success. Kent, EMU, Akron, Buffalo almost nothing.

CMU should not be in the top tier. How many winning seasons have they had in the last 20 years? I believe the answer is 6. 4 of which were Dan LeFevour.

Now, I will say that they hit gold when they are good. But if you want to talk about "traditional powers", they don't fit the definition IMO. Obviously I'm biased being a WMU fan.

I won't dispute that Ohio probably has had the best team in the east in the last few years, but that doesn't make them the number one program in the east. When was Ohios last championship?

Miami did have East titles in 2007 and 2010 but lost to Ohio in both seasons. They picked up a someone fluky MACC in 2010.

Buffalo won the MACC in 2008 with a big year from Turner Gill, since then zilch.

Bowling Green hasn't won the MAC since 1992 or a division title since 2003.

I think its hard to argue that Ohio is not the best program in the MAC East simply on the fact that nobody else in the East is winning MACCs either.
In the last 30 years, only two teams have not been MAC football champions: Kent St. and Ohio.
In the last 40 years, only one has not been MAC football champion: Ohio.

Winning a MAC Championship isn't easy anymore with 13 teams in the league and solid recruiting budgets.

So what are you going to say after Ohio wins the MACC this year as most publications project? You're always trying to nit pick my points while failing to see the big picture.

I think you don't follow MAC football at all. Current MAC East teams are 4-5 in MACC games since Marshall left. MAC West teams are one game ahead.

Maybe I don't because I only count 3 MAC Championships by the East; Akron (2005), Buffalo (2008), Miami (2010). Ohio lost the 2006, 2009, 2011 championship games. Miami lost the 2007 title game.

Marshall's last year in the conference was 2004. Ohio has clearly picked up their slack as the dominant East program since with Frank joining in 2005. Ohio's now turned the tables and they are the program putting WR's into the NFL not Marshall any longer.

Ohio won't win the East, let alone the MACC. BG or Miami wins the East. I don't want to be the one to burst your bubble LK, but all things tend to revert to their historical means and the worst team in MAC history by all measurable means, OU without question, will soon revert back to being the bottom-feeder they have always been. OU temporarily benefited from a one-coach wonder blip that was also during an unusual down time with BG and Miami.

There is a reason Ohio hasn't won the MAC in 40 years - It's no fluke or coincidence.
