Looks like a different profile than the twitter pics.

I have no inside information regarding Miles Lester or Tim Thomas II. I am just reporting my twitter research. I also noticed that his twitter pics do not seem to match the NERR profile pic (and the newer twitter pics do not match the older twitter pics). I am stumped. Perhaps the Tim Thomas coming to Rice is not a basketball player?

edit: the more I look at it, the more I think he's just a student attending Rice, rather than a basketball player (some of his other twitter friends have taken similar pictures and posted them about the colleges they are attending). Just big coincidence that Miles Lester and he followed each other on twitter and that there is a basketball player in Lester's current basketball league with the same name.

Well that was a waste of some time!

Thanks for digging! At the least if he's a future student following basketball recruits it sounds like a good addition the the rally club!

Lester looks like he could be a serviceable backup PG. Not sure how that league translates to college ball though. I think Martin put up pretty big numbers there last year but didn't play too much as a freshman.

Guess he is trying to be the new Jeremy.

The NEPSAC is a pretty good league. Lots of great players come out of it... Robert Martin Jr actually played at the same prep school (Tilton) as Wayne Selden, Nerlens Noel, and Georges Niang, just to name a few.

Wilbraham and Monson has sent guys to Kentucky, UNLV, and Fairfield, just to name a few in recent years.
(04-25-2017 10:53 AM)mrbig Wrote: [ -> ]Perhaps even more interesting than the increasing smoke surrounding Miles Lester is that Lester also followed a guy named Tim Thomas II. ... I have no idea whether he is related to retired NBA player Tim Thomas.

This article says that the retired NBA Tim Thomas has three daughters: Kiara, Kennedy and Kallie.
Josh Parrish just committed. Sit 1, play 3 guard from TCU who played extremely minimal minutes his freshman year. Former 3/4 star recruit. He's a 6-5 200+ combo guard who's pretty quick for his size. He had offers from SMU, Arkansas, VCU, and Rice out of HS.

Here are some of his HS highlights: http://www.hudl.com/video/3/2220422/5721...2a186791f3

6'5" 220 according to Mark Berman. From the tape, he's a big, physical guy for his size. Obvioiusly a really strong driver, I would imagine he'd be a terror defensively against the oppositions shooting guard.
Another good commit. Obviously can't help the 2017-18 team, but still nice to get talented players. He played with his older brother at TCU this past season, but his brother was a senior and is graduating.

Also, cr11owl, if you had paid attention, ExcitedOwl18 already gave everyone a hint...

I heard that we had a VERY intriguing transfer on campus yesterday, but he would have to sit out a year if he does come.

Have we waited long enough to get a hint?

Updated look at Rice's projected 2017-18 roster:
SR (3) - Mency, Dylan Jones (Tr), AJ Lapray (Tr) (maybe 2 years of eligibility?)
JR (1) - Cashaw
SO (4) - Adams, Harrison, Martin, Meyer
FR (4) - Hunter, Spence, Osborne, Parrish (RS Freshman 2017-18, not eligible to play)

1 open scholarship.
so is there an up to the minute list for the incoming class?? I feel lazy and don't want to scroll back through all the pages
I was wondering what kind of production small minute power league transfers had at smaller schools, and there's plenty of reason to think Parrish could be our best player after sitting a year. There are some transfers who end up falling flat or only playing 15 minutes at their new school, but the majority of guys who play the very minimum minutes at power schools end up contributing:

Notable players the last two years who played sparingly and transferred to a smaller school:
> Kahlil Dukes: 7 min per game at USC as soph, 33.7 min per game at Niagara
> Clayton Custer: 6 min per game at Iowa State as fresh, 31.6 min per game at Loyola
> Joe Uchebo: 6 min per game at Pittsburgh as junior, 27.9 min per game at Charlotte
> Patrick Wallace: 2 min per game at NC St as soph, 25.1 min at Charleston Southern
> John Dawson: 4 min per game at Marquette as soph, 32.0 min at Liberty
> Dakota Slaughter: 6 min per game at Alabama as junior, 31.1 min at UTRGV
> Mike LaTulip: 3 min per game at Illinois as junior, 26.1 min at Wright State
> DaQuan Cook: 2 min per game at UNLV as junior, 27.3 min at Prairie View
> Sam Cassell Jr.: 6 min per game at UConn as junior, 30.3 min at Iona
> Dillon Avare: 3 min per game at Louisville as soph, 26.2 min at EKU
> Noah Allen: 6 min per game at UCLA as junior, 30.2 min at Hawaii

oops, thanks Mr Big
And Lester commits as a preferred walk-on. Probably as good a walk-on as you're gonna get. I'd be shocked if he didn't have offers to play elsewhere on scholarship.
Hoping that Lester has a PWO means that the staff thinks we have a chance with Goldwire from Atlanta.

Not sure if we're after any other point guards.
Really interesting last few weeks by Pera and staff. Maybe some of the fans who have played doom and gloom will give the team a chance and come to a few games. You have to like the #s Pera uses on his tweets. #staypositive and #dontflinch
From a credible source.... Pera has offered to a high-major transfer that is coming to visit in mid-may. Not sure what position, but not a point gaurd.

Will likely get on scholarship at some point.

I think it is entirely reasonable to feel immense doom & gloom, only to have the hope in #RiceRising rebuilt through the strong work of the current staff!
If Lester is smart, he'll put it into his contract that he goes on scholarship as soon as a Rice player transfers out.

I agree Pera and staff has done a strong job in a very short time. We're not going to win 23 games next year (I don't think) but it may not be long before we're in position for that type of season again.

And Ruder from Missouri State is going to Oral Roberts, so I'm guessing we're done with the grad transfer market?
Don't forget we're one of four (last update) schools vying for Oregon State grad transfer Malcolm Duvivier. Or at least we were as of a couple weeks ago. Averaged 6 ppg as a junior and 10 ppg as a sophomore. Us, Georgetown, Akron and Niagara.

Grad transfer (immediately eligible), or regular transfer (has to sit out next season)?
