Remember when Blake Mangus said ESPN did not consult with ACC prior to grabbing Cuse and Pitt? DeFillpo spilled the beans but Mangus of ESPN denied it.

In a January memo to the Big 12 expansion committee, interim commissioner Chuck Neinas said Notre Dame is the only school the Big 12 could add that would “enhance the Big 12 value for television.”

The memo, obtained by The Oklahoman through an Open Records request, was sent to the committee as an agenda for a late January teleconference.

The expansion committee is made up of Oklahoma State president Burns Hargis, Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione, Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds and Kansas State president Kirk Shulz.

Here is a look at other items on the agenda and Neinas' responses:

If Notre Dame would become a partial member, how would that impact the current membership and what does it do to further expansion?

Neinas' response: “Both represent

“Both representatives of ESPN/ABC and Fox Sports indicated that Notre Dame's involvement with the Big 12 Conference would increase the value of the conference relative to future television and also improve the image of the conference nationwide.

What value would a new member bring to the conference?

Neinas' response: “Our television partners agreed that the only new member that would enhance the Big 12 value for television was Notre Dame.”

Neinas goes on in the memo to say he discussed expansion with ESPN president John Skipper, Fox Sports president Randy Freer and ESPN's head of college athletics operations Burke Magnus.
People that believe that ESPiN played no part in ACC damaging the BE are really naive.

I have called this exact action right after BE turned the ESPiN down for the media deal. I said back then there is a good chance ESPiN will try to destroy the BE before the next TV deal negotiation. Guess what? A few months later ACC raided the BE for Pitt and SU under the dark skies in the middle of the night. It was so stealth no one knew about it. Even Pitt did not know the other school was SU and SU did not know other school was Pitt. All SU AD confirmed was ACC told them if they turn the ACC down, ACC will go to another school. ACC used fear, uncertainty and doubt against BE schools and it worked. ESPiN needs to de-stabilize the BE to minimize its value for itself and other competitors. At the same time, ESPiN is helping strengthening its own media portfolio because they already got the ACC by the balls.

I have said it many times BE needs to sue ESPiN and get some massive settlement. Schools like UCONN, Cincy, UL, USF and RU are damaged severely by their actions. If BE does not do it, I hope our attorney general will look into it. If the new system is somehow minimize our access to the system, we need to take this to the courts and sue the hell out of those backstabbing criminals.
Excellent post.

There is a lot more money involved this time. We can all thank BCU AD for the evidences we need 03-lmfao

Like I said, if UCONN is not damaged, no one would care. If we are, I sure hope we look into some kind of massive lawsuit. There is a solid case against ESPN. Suing ACC and BCU get you nothing, suing ESPN will be a completely different story.

That shouldn't shock anyone...as ALL expansion moves were done for one reason and one reason only, to increase a conf TV $$$$$.
