Sounds encouraging. I think people are panicking before it's really time.

Everything makes sense for Boise to make the move to the Big East...especially if they want to sell the "dream" to play for a National Championship at their school, let alone the millions of more $$$$ they would make by joining the conf too.
Right. I'm sure Kustra is smart enough to figure out the right thing to do.

I understand that it sounds like panic. Its more frustration that the Big East message isnt being managed better.

Remember a year ago when the Big 12 was down to 9 teams? Talk of its demise? Texas stooped so far as to opening dialog with the ACC. Four defections. That was just a year ago!

They fired their embattled commissioner and that is where the commonality with the Big East ends. Then they brought in a capable, empowered interim replacement, quickly. Then followed with a long term, competent guy. Look at them today. Look at the Big East. Which conference managed the change better?

Standing still in a shifting landscape is a costly choice. An interim commish should be very capable and empowered, not a baby sitter,
They will still earn more money in the Big East...period. It's a no brainer really.
SMU is locked in, but I don't want Dallas to be the western outpost for the Big East.

Like "Spalding" in the great movie: "I want Boise. I want SDSU. I want BYU ...". And no one better tell me that I'll get nothing and like it.

Been here since '94. Have three kids that graduated from Creek.
Boise will jump to BE. It would be a program killer for them not to jump. Whether in the BW or a rebuilt Wac, and yes it can be rebuilt, Boise will be much better off with the trade up in conf.

It's easy to grin, when your bid has come in
and you've got the bcs beat
But the conferenceworthwhile, is the one that can smile
When the big 4 are giving it to them in the seat
There were four greedy conference chairs
Who bullied to get way past their shares
A jealous ACC chair was rappin'
He felt left out on a limb that was snappin'
Together they thought, we can rob Big East's pot,
And keep more for us while theyr'e nappin!

If the WAC can be rebuilt, then BSU wouldn't be spending time and effort to get into the Big West. As was mentioned in other threads, You can invite schools in to the WAC but to be a Div. 1 conference more sports will have to be added by the potential schools (including BSU) and current schools and I don't think any school is going to add programs just for BSU. They can't afford it.

It is either the BW or MWC.
