Quote:Relatively soon, Jack Swarbrick expects Notre Dame will make a decision on a potential new media deal with NBC.

That decision, per the Irish athletics director: Basically, when to make a decision.

While the TV deal is for Notre Dame football, it does effect Big East future contract talks with NBC. It would be the best interest for Notre Dame football and other sports be under the same network.
Signing a deal with NBC means ND will stay ND for the length of the deal. I just don't see ND entering into a long term media deal if it has any intention of joining a conference.
If/when they decide will tell us where it is headed in regards to the BIG EAST/Conference Realignment.
If NBC and ND come to some new deal I don't see the move to the Big XII happening. ND just added a new deal with NBC for the hockey team now that they have been added to Hockey East. ND pretty much have dodged conferences for at least 5 years. I think this will lead to them keeping the Olympic sports right where they are.

It would help out the Big East if they end up signing with NBC as well...ND and Big East can play lead-in games for others...and/or promote upcoming games on NBC Sports.

Big East Officials "want" ND to stay with NBC...so that when Big East leaves ESPN for good...NBC will have some good properties to go along with it...because now its just ND and nothing (if you don't count the Grambling vs Southern game).
Notre Dame has previously said they don't want a network like LHN but an On Demand online service. It's doubtful ESPN would be willing to do this because they want ESPN3 to succeed. NBC who could potentially have rights to all of Notre Dame sports and is helping Notre Dame with their plans would be a perfect fit.
