Here's some much better shots :whoah:
This place looks awesome. I've never been to a college baseball game. Looks like I may have to change that.

Good post, Lkr. 04-bow

Yep, this stadium makes the field I played on (when I was at UC) look like a dump! I cannot believe how far things have some since I was there. I remember one year when we didn't have a roof on the dugout the first part of the year! That was pretty comical looking  !
I dont know if any of you have been to the Miami baseball field but that is very nice and reminds me of UC's new field...It looks as though UC's will have more seating capacity

And the new UC park looks like it has actual seats in some sections

Is the new stadium in the same location as the old?

yes it is

UC needs to advertise when some Baseball games are going to be so i know when to go

are they going to sell beer?? 04-cheers

If I'm not wrong, it's just down the road (maybe 100-200 yards). I cannot remember the street names, but I think it's located next to the street that runs along the North or East side of campus.
Actually it is just east of where the old stadium was. A few years back the University used to hold a sort of Tailgating thing on the practice field before football games. I think they called it bearcat blitz or something. That's where the new stadium is. The road you are thinking of runs east west, but runs through campus from Jefferson to CCM. It is not on the edge of campus, though it is close. The backstop is on the south east corner, near Edwards.

By the way, for the rest of the pictures click <a href='http://www.ucbearcats.com/info/photogallery/baseball/construction/' target='_blank'>here</a>.
I am most happy about...

Looks like I'm going to have to catch some Bearcat Baseball games now.

To repeat what fanatical said,

I just saw that it's right next to the old field (CF is next to RF on the old field).

Man, I am telling you, this will be one sweet stadium to play in and the current players are lucky to play in a stadium like this!. :thumb: :whoah:

This year they have struggled, but the past 3 years we have been pretty good. The class that just graduated broke a lot of the records the class I was in set. We set the record for most wins in a year (31) and set a number of individual records as well. My freshman year we were pretty bad, but finished 4th in the Metro conference tourney at the end of the year which was a much better conference than CUSA. We had FSU, Va Tech, Tulane, South Carolina who were all top 25 teams. My Sophomore thru Senior years we had very good seasons as our class had a number of good players. They just lost a class like the one I was in and am sure they are trying to fill in all the holes created by the departing class.

The one thing for sure, this stadium will be a boon for recruiting. This stadium would be better than anyone I played in except South Carolina and FSU.

Cleary will do a good job for our program as well...
A new stadium can never hurt unless your team is the REDS...The Reds are doing pretty well but they lost to the Braves 9-5 in 10 innings...8-6 isnt bad i guess...But they should have won and they should be 9-5
just throwing in some info:
1. I think the stadium seats about 3,000.
2. If I remember it correctly, the section immediately behind homeplate will get actual seats, as this is under the giant roof canopy of the pressbox. the rest of the stadium will have bleachers.
3. There will be one concession stand and restroom facilities at each end of the field (down the foul line). I would imagine that they sell beer at the games since they do that for both b-ball and football already.
4. I think the home batting cage/bullpen will be near the left field foul pole (the one with cover) while the visitors' will be the one by the Big O statue.
5. The fieldturf surface will hopefully allow for more uses of the field, not just by the bearcats but also by local highschool teams (maybe during playoffs?). That should be great.

Once the baseball stadium opens up, look for construction to speed up on the Athletic Center (wedged in between the west side of the Shoe and east of Nippert). It will house the UC Hall of Fame, new tickets office, all athletic offices, and more... It should be quite a sight when all these constructions are said the done.
LKR33,

What years did you play.

BTW the record that we set (if you played with me???) was 34 wins in a season. I believe the new record is 35 wins, set in 2000.
Yeah, I noticed that the team had very few seniors on it this year.

Played in the mid 80's (84-87). Back then, the highest win total was 31 when we set it one of those years. I knew it was broken, but didn't know when. When I played that field was not very good at all...we did our best to make it a good field, but the surroundings were terrible. We just had those aluminum bleachers beyond the fence around home plate. This new place made our field look like a little league field!
