According to chatter on the Big West Board...

Santa Barbara News-Press senior writer Mark Patton is reporting that UCSB and Cal Poly have voted "yes" on Boise entering the conference - IF they pay subsidy (no details tho). No word on anyone else. Apparently, Bob Williams, the Basketball coach at UCSB, is for the addition of Boise State as well.

Obviously, SDSU is also a YES vote. So, Boise State you have 3 votes so far.

They need 8/10 votes to get accepted. Need 5 more YES votes.

Looking good so far.
Didn't somebody post not long ago that UCSB and Cal Poly might be two no votes? If so, this is really good news.
I know this doesn't really have any bearing on the vote but since it's oly/title IX related I just wanted to point out that Kurt Felix from Boise St. just won the NCAA mens outdoors decathlon. I'm sure the voting members of the Big West have done their homework and realize BSU is more than a "one trick pony"(common negative connotation) but always good when it's reaffirmed.
The Big West would be stupid not to admit Boise State. They bring badly needed name recognition.

Agree. Thier basketball team has been improving also.
Maybe the BE will sweeten the deal, by offering some BB exposure for the big west? home and home with a few teams?
$$$$$$

Im guessing at the very least some of the more western teams might schedule games that way (Houston, SMU, Memphis).

I believe it was speculation based on deduction that long beach and Hawaii might be no votes.
Boise needs to sign a 10 year OOC deal with Hawaii. Maybe SD can throw a few games their way too to sweeten the pot. Boise gets in the Big West and Hawaii get a high quality OOC opponent for the next decade. Helps keep that rivalry going.
I wonder why Long Beach and Hawaii would vote no? You'd think they would want another "name" in the conference to go along with themselves and SDSU. Those 4 teams along with Santa Barbara could create one of the better mid-major basketball conferences -- above C-USA and just below MWC. The A-10 has it sewn in that they are the best mid-major conference.

Thanks, yeah, now those two ring a faint bell.
I hope Hawaii forces us to a long term home and home football deal!!!!!!

I'm not sure why Long Beach would vote no, but I recall someone commenting that Hawaii might want to shoot down Boise to the BW in hopes BSU would be forced back to the MWC.

It comes down to money for LBSU. All Cal States are strapped for money. LBSU used to have a pretty good football program till they ran out of money. As for Hawaii...most likely old WAC feelings during the years as a school who will jump at the first opportunity to leave. I wouldn't be surprised if Fullerton will say no too and fellow Orange County UCI might go the same way. BSU doesn't bring much plus they don't have Baseball. I feel BSU better buddy up with Fresno since they have everything the Big West wants plus it is a Bus League overall. Maybe a Fresno Yosemite Airport meeting in the works. LOL. I doubt it since nBE want the LDS BYU as 14. Many FSU fans says you could have it. We will stay the course and not have to split Football and our Olys into two leagues. If NMSU comes join with their basketball along with Creighton or Wichita...look out we will be the true nBE west teams. Especially in basketball. And who knows...UTEP and Tulsa Football later on. The nBe most likely get ECU and Southern Miss and fade away.

Long Beach's HC is former Gonzaga HC Dan Monson. Word is Monson thinks he can build Long Beach into the Gonzaga of the Big West and he doesn't want competition for the title of what has generally been a one-bid league. SDSU will be bad enough but if he can beat us in the BW tournament he can still probably get to the dance since other than UCSB there isn't another consistently good hoops program in the entire conference. Boise has been pretty mediocre but they hired a much better coach a couple years ago and with BE TV money being like eight times what Boise earned in the WAC, they figure to improve considerably.
MAybe even more appealing to Hawaii than just a home and home with Boise St, would be also a just as long home and home with SD where it would alternate with Boise. When Boise visits Hawaii, the Warriors travel to SD St and when the warriors travels to Boise the Aztecs visit Hawaii.

Im sure Hawaii would love such a close road game.
