That with the O'Brien firing, Butler is up in the air about what to do. He's refusing to do any interviews until he decides what is best for him and his family.

What a soap opera his situation has become.

LOL! Me to Catswin, that's much better then my quote of karma biting you in the ******.

Talk about irony, Ohio State flaunted the acquisition of Butler in our face and now it looks like it's going to blow up in their face. And the best of all is that UC has managed to fill the void of Butler by getting a quality PG like Jihad Muhammad, big time scorer and PG/SG Vincent Banks and now PG Byron Eaton has strong interest in us. Who would have thought that UC would get a windfall like this when Butler bailed! As for Butler, he either has to stay at OSU and look at the prospect of not making the NCAA Tournament or sit out a year and go to another part of the country to play ball or go to some place like Dayton or Kent State if he wants to stay in the area. Ouch!
Butler could also go to a Prep and reopen his recruitment.
.... which would be a good alternative. But then again, he obviously didn't choose OSU for the sole reason of going to the NCAA tourney. I don't mean to flame, but they weren't close to going there last year, and sure as hell aren't going there next, with or without OB.

peace.
does louisville still want a point guard??

it would sure make for some interesting internet reading if odia's visa fell through and......well, i've said enough. 03-wink
Hmmm brew! Louisville's in hot pursuit of a PG (McGee) and will know whether or not they got him any day now, that's what Pete said on the C-USA board.
You know Huggins has to have a BIG smile on his face after this one. It's great that Butler's getting it how he gave it. :bang:
I don't really wish him any ill will at all. I think it's unfortunate that kids sign to play for a head coach, the head coach leaves or get fired and the kids are left stuck with their decision. I hated it when he changed his mind but we've got some really good kids coming in and hope it all works out for him.

I just hope we kill his team (who ever it will be) every time we play them!
Someone on bucknuts said Butler was on Lima news last night and is still planning to go. Who knows, but more importantly WHO CARES ABOUT BUTLER, HE CAN'T HANDLE THE ACADEMICS AT UC. We don't graduate players for taking golf courses.
What happens if a player takes money... Say Butler received money from O'Brien... is he still allowed to play for another school or is he done in the eyes of the NCAA?
Hey Dave I read the parts you were talking about, I think it's kind of wishful thinking on their part. Butler and his mother said that they will be attending Ohio State until announced otherwise. And he won't take any calls so his mother is doing most of the talking, not exactly a ringing endorsement. Twig is going to OSU though.

That's a good question TYrant I'm trying to think of situations like that where a player was still eligible for the NCAA. A lot of players have been caught with their hands in the cookie jar after they left (The Fab Five, Maurice Taylor, Marcus Camby, etc.).

Update: Actually there have been situations where that has happened, players have gotten lengthy suspensions (several weeks to several months) and there were allowed to continue playing.
I'm pretty sure they have to repay the money and sit out a while. But I could be wrong.

peace.
