NCAA Golf Championship Live Scoreboard

The Flashes ended day one in 13th place, 3 shots behind 8th place which is the cutoff for the match play on Friday. A lot of teams are bunched up pretty closely and only a couple out of the 30 who started are in trouble.

KSU's Corey Conners shot a 3-under 68 yesterday, one shot behind the individual leader. Conners is ranked #60 in the country and is only a sophomore. KSU only has one senior and one junior who start. Three sophomores are playing this week.

KSU tees off after 3 p.m. EDT. They are playing with FSU and UF the first two days.
KSU finished the day in a tie for 8th place after a solid round, though a bit up and down. They are in great shape to have a shot at making the finals on Friday. Shooting one shot better today moved them up 5 places in the standings, but there are about 20 teams who are close enough to have a decent chance Thursday to make the final eight.
What's the tie-breaker if more than one team is tied for 8th place?

Normally, teams would playoff with the best 4 out of 5 scores counting. It could get crazy with multiple teams. I'll check about any unusual details for this tourney.
If two teams tie, they will go off in two fivesomes--3 from one team, two from the other . Best four scores from each team after they play one hole.

If three, four, or five teams tie, they will play in threesomes, foursomes, or fivesomes respectively, shotgunning on five different holes. Best four scores after each player plays one hole. They play it down until one team is left.

There could well be a logjam today.
HustleBelt doin' the golf thing!

Playoff today between KSU and FSU for the last spot in match play which starts later today. Winner gets #2 ranked 'Bama.

Flashes clinch a top 10 finish for the second time in the last 5 years.

Very tense finish last night: FSU guy three-putted from 15 ft. on the last hole, including missing a 2-1/2 footer that allowed KSU to get into a tie for the final spot.

Let the Hustlebelt author know the term is now "Sudden Victory" replacing "Sudden Death". It's the term they use in wrestling match OT.
Let those effete wrestlers mince their words if they want to, but in the manly world of golf, you lose, you die.
"Putt well and live!"

Damn, have a little respect for Payne Stewart
With the loss to 'Bama, does Kent officially finish 8th in the NCAAs or is it a four-way tie for 5th?

Let's go with the latter.

It was another great season. And when you look at where the schools are from who are in the final 8, it's even more remarkable how a team from northern Ohio can compete at the highest levels year in and year out:

Alabama, San Diego St, Washington, Texas, Cal, Oregon, UCLA, and Kent St.
