Maybe, for an EMU fan it is good to look beyond football.

The MAC has a different school winning each of the four major sports during this past year:

NIU won the MACC.

Ohio men's hoops

EMU won women's hoops

and Kent won baseball.

One-third of the MAC schools came home with a nice championship prize.

There is no true 'weak sister' in the MAC. Each school has had its moments in the last 5 - 10 years.

"Irony"; definition: "an EMU fan making an argument for no weak sister in the MAC."
Four major sports??? I believe there are two, football and men's basketball. Women's basketball and baseball might be a notch above track or golf but definitely not on the same footing as football and men's basketball.

Especially considering the strength of Men's Soccer...

I don't think that's irony.
WMU won the CCHA. Beating out the likes of Michigan, Michigan St.,ND, BGSU, and Miami.

The CCHA was arguably the toughest conference in college hockey.

Not MAC, but sort off. It would be nice if we could get more MAC schools with hockey teams.

Yes, I should have added hockey and soccer to football, men and women's basketball and baseball.

All of those sports crown national champions.

Good luck to Kent whom I believe in nationally ranked in baseball going into the college world series.
If the standard is that the NCAA crowns a national champion, you should add swimming, track, golf, and tennis as well. Congrats to all the team that won a conference title. I understand your point of different teams winning the championships but football and men's basketball stand out on the national scene. The other sports do not.

Soccer is huge on Akron's campus and hockey is huge on Miami's campus but not on a national scene. They get minimal attention from tv and are rarely featured on espn's top ten or sportscenter clips.

KSU baseball is just outside the top 25 (27) as of last week. RPI was not good though as approx. 30 games vs. MAC opponents will do to you, no matter how good you are. I haven't seen an updated ranking. They got a 3-seed in the Gary regional with 1-seed Purdue, 2-UK and 4-Valpo. (There are 16 regionals, so a 3-seed equates to #33-48, which is typical under seeding for a MAC team.)

KSU golf is ranked #17 or #18 depending on where you look. There are 30 teams (5 qualified out of each of 6 regionals). They start play this morning (7:00 a.m PDT) and will 18 holes each day for the next three days. Then they will pare down to the final eight who will be reseeded by 54 hole scores and play team match play single elimination until a champion is crowned on Sunday.
KSU's opening game in the baseball regional vs. UK Friday at 4 p.m. will be televised on ESPN3.

No, it's not ironic. But your comment could support the definition of "tiresome," "lame" or even "unimaginative."

EMU won the MAC men's hoops West Division title. Football finished 6-6 and the women's hoops team won the MAC tournament.

LEt it go Dave... 90% of the people here know how solid EMU has been in the non revenue sports and see the improvement on the other side.

Don't let the haters get you down.

You're right.

It's just that EMU has been down so long and we have absorbed some deserved cheap shots that we when we are finally showing progress, it's a little tougher to tolerate insufferable remarks.

Besides, it's not like EMU fans are coming over here and talking smack.

If EMU becomes as good as Ohio (BTW, where is L. Kitton?) we might practice our smack talk... 03-lmfao

EMU has been down in one sport and up in all others.
NIU has been up in one sport and down in all others.

I'd be estatic for NIU to have half of EMU's Olympic sport success.

03-lmfao Good one. Like there's something a notch above track. Oh God, stop it, you're killing me. 03-lmfao

As for the four major sports Toledo was first in women's x-country, down the line in men's, second in track both indoors and out. Two seconds and a first with a Top Twenty Five rating in x-country. I'd say we pretty much dominated the four majors.

I long for the days when EMU would send their tracksters to the Olympics and they'd bring home medals.

I kid you NOT. Some EMU T&F athletes have won medals, including gold. Hasley Crawford won that nice gold one.

Think of what that means: Probably best in the MAC, best in the NCAAs, best in the U.S. (trials), and best in the world.

That is a tall mountain to climb.

Hell we'd do cartwheels if we had someone win their event in the NCAAs next month.
