They bring no market, no fans. They're further than other FCS options for the MAC. How are they even in the discussion? It really sucks for Idaho, but they and New Mexico State need to drop to I-AA. It's just life.

Having been to the Kibbie Dome for an NIU game in 2007, I'd be surprised if there's a worse facility in all of FBS, and maybe even FCS, football. Bottom line; Idaho has a bad football program, their "stadium" is very bad and their fan support is poor.

When you compare Idaho to the likes of JMU, AppState or UD, it's a no-brainer (well, at least for most people).

I'm sure there's a worse facility within the FCS ranks, especially when you go to the lower end of FCS (the teams that draw less than 5k on average).
JMU played Eastern Kentucky in the first round of this past season's playoffs (@EKU of course, because we botched another playoff bid). Their stadium was a joke from the looks of it. I didn't personally go to the game, but many of our fans commented on how awful it was.

That game drew only 3.1k reported attendance, some who went said it was well less than that, actual butts in seats.
You wanna see just how bad the Kibbie Dome is? Well, take a look at this!

The Kibbie Dome is receiving renovations to take capacity to 20,000.

Kibbie to the MAC!
Four words:

They Bring A Bowl...

I don't know how true this is... But who knows it could be. If it's true than that is pretty compelling. The MAC does not want an 8-4 program to sit at home during the bowl season again..

edit: That being said I would still rather do the JMU/UD/Appy option...

The Kibbie Dome renovations are underway and Athletic Director Rob Spear is very happy with the way things are coming together. Last year Idaho's largest double wide trailer had windows installed on the east end. Now crews are working around the clock to put windows on the west end and install tampon dispensers in the ladies bathrooms!!!!! The Kibbie Dome will be the nicest trailer in the park!

Ok how about Idaho to the MAC but they have to play all their games away!

Exactly. I expect BYU to head to the Big East anyway but I'm just throwing it out there as an ideal option for #14.

The MAC should look at the highest ground first (Army, BYU) that could help with SOS and Bowl Games before exploring FCS upgrades.

I have never understood this about you in seven years of posting on this website and watching you go through at least three aliases. You know very well that Satan's Realm would have to freeze over before BYU ever joins the MAC, even as a partial member, but you have made possibly hundreds of posts in the last few weeks that keep acting like it's even remotely feasible.

Why? Especially when you admit above that you clearly know it isn't likely. It seems, to me, like a colossal waste of time to not focus on things that at least have a chance of happening rather than things which are completely impossible. Delaware and James Madison could be possible, for example, while BYU joining the MAC and the conference getting the Liberty Bowl are not.

Nah, he's moved on from the BYU thing. Now, he's fixated on Idaho joining the MAC! 03-lmfao

I don't buy at all that Idaho would "bring a bowl."

The Potato Bowl is in Boise. Boise State fans despise Idaho. Not only that, Boise is 294 miles from Moscow. It's a six hour drive in good weather. In mid-December, the roads can be treacherous or impassable. And, Idaho fans don't travel well. Hell, they don't even show up in good numbers for home games.

There are 35 or so meaningless bowls and you're willing to overlook all issues with the candidate because they bring the brand new potato bowl? When the FCS fans argue that they don't want to go FBS because the season leads to the "who gives a damn" bowl, they're talking about bowls like that.
I know it's tv time for a mac school in said bowl, but that's about it. The Bowls are the one thing no one is looking forward to.
Idaho is not on the radar for the MAC.

Kibbie to the MAC!
Floor seating?

2011 Renovations reduced Kibbie capacity from 16,000 down to 15,500 however Idaho plans to lower the field adding seats for an eventual capacity of 22,000 and that would be pretty good for MAC play.

Since you're fixated on adding a football team that plays in a dome, why not add one that actually has a good football program?

WOW that is the worst PR video ever.

I am thinking now that the MWC will pick up Idaho and NM ST for 2014 after BSU and SD St keep with the BE and even more so if they lose AF.

How dare you rehash a bad memory from back in december!

As opposed to the tallest-midget contest they currently compete for?

LOL

The Bison would be a worthy addition to the MAC, that's for sure. Ask Minnesota, who lost to NDSU in 2007 and 2011. Or ask Kansas, who lost to NDSU in 2010.

BTW, Bison fans probably made up half the crowd both times in Minneapolis. They travel VERY well.
The Fargodome only holds 19k at full capacity though. They just won their first FCS championship this year, beating JMU and GA Southern along the way. JMU's D did hold them to the fewest points scored in the postseason.
They'll need to expand the fargodome, which is harder when it's an indoor facility. I'm not sure how the Fargo market ranks, but I'm sure it's nothing special, and we know that's all that conferences really look at these days.

I have no idea if NDSU has any interest in moving up to FBS status. But I do know they have EVERY advantage over Idaho as a football program. And, Fargo is actually a fairly good-size market (population 105,000).

But mainly I'm just 05-stirthepot so a certain person will STFU about Idaho.
