1)adding all sport schools...schools in the mix:
Appalachian state
James Madison
Western Kentucky

2)need a new bowl tie in. The rumored Indianapolis Bowl would be beautiful.

3)open the Espn contract. While I don't kid myself that we are Ina petition of strength, the contract remains the weakest in Div 1 football. With the crazy tv money thrown at the power conferences, we must be able to move our money up. That said, I want to make sure we stay at Espn.

4)football only schools-no!!!

There is such potential to take our stability and grow it.

understand that CUSA's contract would increase UB's Budget by less than 4%. This myth that they were swimming in TV money is a joke..

Is that their current or the "new" contract

I really don't care either way here, but since when is a TV contract the only factor in a budget?

I am guessing from a budget perspective ,you balance the increased revenue with the increased expenses ......

We got Scott Satterfield, OC, back after spending the last two years at FIU and the year before that at Toledo. Am sure he would be in favor, as all AppNation on your Number 1:
Adding All-Sports Schools,

Appalachian State
and
James Madison.
We needed another thread for this topic? Don't we already have a 123 page thread dedicated for these ideas?

Yeah, but you guys never do anything that will actually help you. Is UMass really helping you? They didn't pull many fans when they were FCS. Now playing two hours away at Gillette really going to help attendance wise. The only time you guys had any spark was when Marshall was in there for a few years.
That's why you need to add Appalachian State and JMU. To give you guys a pulse again. It's like watching an episode of The Walking Dead right now.
Huh? I must have missed the sports world being a-buzz with AppSt and JMU football. Seriously, they are less known than MAC schools by most football fans who aren't local to them. The MAC would do a lot more for them than they would do for the MAC. They want a ticket into the big tent and think the MAC is part of that path. Fine, but their addition really doesn't change the MAC significantly.

You have to know that if all the teams in CUSA and the MAC and the SBC, etc. just simultaneously disappeared from the face of the earth, college football would barely miss a beat. And FCS teams are even more irrelevant than that.

We are all fans of our schools and follow them religiously and think the sun rises and sets with them. But really, we are all the Washington Generals, who do sometimes win a game against the Globetrotters.
If we disappeaed we wouldn't be missed by many except our fans.
Just was a different MAC back when MU was in there. Even a few Southerners started
watching the MAC back then.
Take App State for example:
They did beat Michigan a couple years ago at home when they were number 5.
Armanti Edwards was one of the most talked about players in the country.
Last year they had 3 players drafted (not signed later on) in the NFL draft.(I believe that was more than all of CUSA with the soon to be BE members included.)
The first player selected in the 2nd round of the NFL draft this year was from App State.
They have some other years where 3 or 2 players were drafted and a ton of other App players signed with the NFL.
This with them being FCS. Plus their regular season attendance was over 28,000.
I'm a little biased because have some family members that played football there, but think they and JMU would spark any conference.
Terry Holland pushed hard to get them in CUSA.
We already have a thread on this topic. Why don't we use that one?
It seems to me that MAC always kept itself built up
to avoid a big hit with conf expansion.
now more than ever MAC needs same plan, everybody been hit.
Eventally MAC gets raided

is that a Haiku?
I wouldn't be opposed to adding Appy St but JM? Frankly, I didn't know they played football.

JMU is a solid FCS program. Starting with the 2004 season, they've gone 69-30 in a very good conference.

Then you must not follow college football with any depth. I know fans of higher divisions don't like to "look down", but even I know who won the last D2 and D3 championships at least. I figure I owe them that respect.

Since becoming the HC in 1999, Mickey Matthews has gone 96-61, won the national title in 2004 and had 6 playoff appearances (5 of which were when the playoff field was only 16, not the 20 it is today). Also one of only two FCS programs to beat a ranked BCS program, #13 Virginia Tech. Appalachian State also beat #5 Michigan in 2007.

Absolutely correct...I DON'T follow college football with any depth. I pay a little attention, but most of the time I couldn't even tell you who the #1 team in the country is, in any division. And that's because I don't care. I follow Toledo, and their opponents. That's really all I care about.

You think I'm unusual? Maybe. But maybe not.
James Madison University is one of the most respected FCS programs in the country.
Appalachian State and James Madison would make great additions to any FBS non-AQ conference.
If you know anything about FCS football you would have to know about those schools, so I take it that you do not follow it.
