Ah. Had no idea. Here is a video of her vs. Chris Matthews re: John Kerry shooting himself to get a purple heart. Hilarious. I want to know more from Smitty about why this is his avatar. Besides the top rated comment on the Youtube page..

Yeesh. Using Chris Matthews as the calibration for a scale upon which to judge someone politically is also a bad idea.

I will refrain from too much political discussion here (unlike other forums in which I have participated), but let's just say that my personal life and political affiliations have much in common with Mrs. Malkin. And I agree that Mr. Matthews may not be the best and brightest standardbearer for those trying to make a cogent political argument.

The best news is that Phage (or Smudge, Swamp, et al.) is back to a recognizable name. Shared many a bourbon at ODU tailgates with him.

Hopefully, my role here will be invisible. I hope to emulate Coach's sound reasoning with infrequent minimization of the pissing contests that many of us find so distasteful. However, please be prepared to take some shots along the way. If you are not getting pinged, you are not contributing enough.

Chris Matthews on jeopardy was pretty funny, not too long ago. Last week, maybe? Man, that guy was a dunce. Hilarious after he joked on Palin about how she would do if she were on the show.

The free xjohnx comment hits me hard. Should we release all of the stray animals from the pound, as well?

Let the dogs out and send them on DolleyMadison. She appears to have gone into hiding, as she hasn't logged in since she claimed she'd "wait a month to be right" about ODU and CUSA lol. Maybe she hasn't heard, and is still waiting?

She's one of the many reasons why I'm glad C-USA is a southern conference, with southern fans.

For those lurking from outside CAA land and are curious, xjohnx is a moderator on CAAZone for VCU. He is known for coming into the the ODU boards and suspending/banning/shutting down threads he doesn't like. He is also known to suspend people he is losing an argument to... even suspended Smitty himself at one point.

It's more than that. xjohnx had a habit of bringing a video camera with him to the the CAA tourney for the sole purpose of filming snippets of unbecoming behavior by students from schools other than VCU and then posting those out-of-character moments on the internet. He most infamously did this to a set of Hofstra students who (unlike the local scum from VCU) had actually made some effort to travel a substantial distance in order to watch their team play (and then only to get the Yeager-home-cooking treatment from the officials).

xjohnx has proved himself to be a self-righteous, behind-the-computer-screen bully. Smitty is entirely deserving of moderator status in his own right. But his time and effort spent in publicly challenging the cowardly b.s. of xjohnx is what seals the deal -- at least for me.

Well done, Smitty.

By the way. A tip-o'-the-hat also to our other moderator candidates, all of whom are first-rate posters and a large part of what makes being an ODU fan (even just an adopted one) such a privilege.

^I agree. That is cool to see where folks came from any how they got to ODU. Especially as diverse as the crowd is here.

Congrats, Smitty! We have totally opposite political views but are completely bi-partisan in our love of ODU BB & FB and utter disdain for anything VCU!
