Having gambled on better media pot, Big East facing deal of its lifetime...

So how much revenue will the new deal earn the league? It depends on who you ask.

"In one sense it's very difficult to compare and contrast these sorts of things because every conference is a little bit different," Big East interim commissioner Joe Bailey said. "This is a very different conference from other conferences."

The Big East's footprint -- just picture a map of the United States -- includes 32 million households and 27 percent of the television markets. The next closest is the Pac-12 with 15 million households.

Obviously, there actually have to be people inside those households interested in watching the Big East, but it is an impressive number of potential eyeballs.

Neil Pilson, a media consultant and former president of CBS Sports, told the New York Times he believes the Big East could surpass the $130 million-per-year deal rejected last year.

But industry sources told CBSSports.com they expect the Big East to get much less -- maybe as low as $50 million annually -- because of the loss of West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and TCU. And then there's the possibility the Big East could lose two more of its biggest names -- most likely Louisville, Connecticut or Rutgers -- if the Big 12 expands and the ACC has to replace two schools.

What did they expect? Boise is going to be their "biggest" name. How well did that do for them in the MWC?
That's $50 million per team, right? We are talking about the Bestest Ever, after all.
i've now seen a projected range of 60-200 million per season...i'll wait til the contract is signed to give my opinion...
One of these threads, eh? hmmm, let me get one I haven't used yet...

There we go.

No way man, we'd need UAB and those rigorous academic standards of yours to claim "bestest ever."
That would be about $3.5M per all-sports team which is about $2M less than the BE all-sports teams get now. I think they will get more than that, but it isn't going to be what defectors have suggested.
I think the fb schools are devaluing the Catholic schools basketball value.

As an aside, any body interested in a used Times Square Banner?
And if it's still more than we'd get in CUSA why all the grief for those schools looking to make more money and increase exposure? Not to mention the opportunity to upgrade the old basketball schedule a touch.
Soooo this is the C-USA board right? I'm just saying.

I know the rebutal "if you you don't like it then don't read it."

I normally wouldn't but the be,nBe, whatever post are like the closed door in a horro movie. You can hear the music, you know you shouldn't look behind it, and then there's nothing there. That is until you turn around and you have another OT: post waiting on you.

MOST C-USA fans have never been real fond of the BE. I would try not to take it as such a personal attack on the 4 schools leaving. I know the volume of BE threads has picked up since the last raid and I know it is not pleasant to read negative posts about your future home.

It is hard to tell how each BE themed post is meant. Is it an attack on the 4 schools leaving or is it just a post about the BE? CFB is a competitive thing and lets face it, the BE failing (not saying it is but if it were to) is a positive for C-USA. Direct attacks on the 4 schools leaving will be moved immediately but personally I am allowing some leniency on posts about the BE in general. Other mods may handle it differently.

On the flipside SOME leniency (admittedly probably less) will be shown by me for responses aimed at C-USA like the one you have made above. However please refrain from attacks on an individual school especially when one has not been made at your school.

PLEASE MODS....DO NOT MOVE THIS THREAD.

OH....and......

Cool, haven't seen one of these threads in about 5 minutes.

:soapbox:

Seriously, who cares? C-USA is all we need to discuss. If you want to discuss the Big Least, I'm pretty sure it has its own board, and they'll be happy to tell you about how much money they'll be receiving from their mega-awesome TV deal.

If the individual poster makes a direct attack on my school regarding the same subject matter in another existing thread I don't see what the problem is.

Haha yea, going over to their board and telling them their tv deal will not be worth the 23 billion dollars they are thinking it will be will go over real well. They bash C-USA on their board so it's only fair we get to have our own fun over here as well.

Pretty sure we don't actually know. Boise State was in the WAC until recently. I believe TV was negotiated per-BSU.
The math still trends in the right direction to me. I guess if this is a "haha Louisville and Rutgers" thread, I get it. But for UCF et al it's hard to say we would be better off with the status quo.

These are weird times. I just limit my board comments to what I would say to a person face to face. That involves just walking away from what would have been some brilliant responses on my part but, so be it. 03-lmfao

I think that the mods have done/are doing a really good job of managing through this unusual environment that includes new, departing, and remaining schools/posters.

Peace

If the contract is only going to get $2M more per season than what you get in CUSA it will take almost a decade to get in the positive after exit fees, entrance fees, and lost ncaa credits are considered.
well i've seen guesses as low as 60...and as high as 200 million per season...since the truth is somewhere in the middle, i'll guess 130 million per season...

at this point, nobody knows...
