is being played Thursday 6 pm, Friday 6 pm, and Saturday 1 pm. Saturday the 2011 NCAA Regional team will be honored. I would also assume that it will also be senior day, assuming that they do that for the baseball program. I'll be out of town Saturday, but am going to try and make it both Thursday and Friday nights. Sure would be nice to have a decent crowd this weekend, because the Woofs will.

Does anybody know the senarios that need to occur this weekend to make sure we make the SBC Tournament? Here are the current standings:

Team Record Pct Streak Record Pct Streak
*Florida Atlantic 17-8 .680 W1 29-20 .592 W1
*Arkansas State 16-9 .640 L2 29-21 .580 W1
*FIU 15-12 .556 W2 31-21 .596 W2
*South Alabama 14-13 .519 W2 20-31 .392 W2
Middle Tennessee 13-14 .481 L2 28-25 .528 W1
Troy 12-15 .444 L1 24-28 .462 L2
UALR 12-15 .444 L1 26-25 .501 L1
ULM 12-15 .444 W1 25-27 .481 L1
Louisiana-Lafayette 11-16 .407 W2 23-27 .460 W2
Western Kentucky 11-16 .407 L2 22-30 .423 W1

* = school had made the Playoffs

Since ULL and ULM play each other, it would seem likely that one of them might be eliminated. The other series to keep an eye on would be WKU vs. MTSU. If we get swept by ASU like we did to start conference play, I don't like our odds.

I have never understood why we don't make some attempt to promote the baseball team. Gary Hogan Field is a great place to watch a game. The hogs draw 10,000; seems like with a little promotion we could draw 300-400 which would create a nice atmosphere and bring in a few bucks. Just sending out something to season ticket holders encouraging them to come out; maybe a free hot dog and drink with your 5 dollar tickets; a free ball for kids under 12. Anything to get people out and, at least, see the ball park.

I'd like to see them bring back the fish fry at least once a season. Who put that on by the way, was it the Tip In Club?

Yes, the hogs draw 10,000, but most hog fans would line up for tickets to see hog players swap spit. And really, I don't begrudge them their fans. Even if we started going to the NCAA every year, and reaching the final four every few years, we'd never be more than a mosquito on an elephants ass in the number of fans and supporters. They have the whole state, been around for many more years, and we'd never be much more than central Arkansas at best, with Pappy and Karl B, and any others that I am not aware of, thrown in from outside the metro area. I don't begrudge the hogs that adulation and support. I just want a fair shake from our local paper, TV stations, and our local city officials to promote our school and programs. I don't even expect equal coverage in the paper. Just good coverage, with complete box scores. I know that it's not going to happen with the present ******* in charge of sports at the Democrap.

Wouldn't the old Baseball Fish Fry have been great for this weekend? And to partake, you had to have on some sort of Trojan gear- so no ASU fans could get free fish or beer. Alas, the fan friendly days of old seem to have gone by the board. The powers that be must figure were too good for those sort of things now. The problem is, we don't have any more, and maybe less fans for baseball than we did back in the days of the Fish Frys.
