well, it is a footnoted history, but a history nonetheless. i just realized that when they open the season against ohio state, the kickoff time is at noon. since ohio state is in the big ten, and the game is at ohio state, this means that uc will play in the first ever college football game involving instant replay.

from what i've read about it, the proposed system sounds sort of ridiculous. teams cannot challenge calls. referees cannot request to review plays. there is to be a designated technical advisor, and he will decide a) when a play should be reviewed, and b) whether the call should be overturned after reviewing it.

this is the really screwy part. the technical advisor must use the network television feed and cannot request a different feed or a different angle. i'm not sure whether that means the only view he/she is allowed to look at is how it originally aired on television or if he will watch the replays that the network decides to replay in slow motion to the rest of the country.

the problem i see with this system is that if i understand it correctly, the technical advisor can basically veto any call made by the officials at any time. all he has to do is rule that a play should be reviewed and overturn the call. i sort of like it the way the nfl does it better.

either way it should be interesting. this system will be played during all big ten conference games and in big ten home non conference games so long as both teams concede to it. unless uc has some sort of objection to it, they may find themselves the answer to a trivia question some time in the future.
That's pretty neat XUBrew, thanks for passing that on. Hopefully UC makes it an even bigger game by beating OSU.
As long as the techie isn't getting paid by tOSU, we'll be fine. :ninja:
Great with our luck, UC will win. On the last play there will be a questionable call going UC's way and OSU fans won't acknowledge the win. 03-razz
