Jerry Falwell, Jr., - Liberty University Chancellor and President
"Competing at the highest levels of collegiate competition has been the vision for Liberty University since its founding in 1971. It is exciting to watch the fulfillment of that dream taking shape as Liberty now has the financial resources, facilities, academic support and athletics professionals necessary to move forward."

Jeff Barber - Liberty University Director of Athletics
"The announcement of our intentions to move to FBS football is a giant step toward realizing the University's goal of becoming a major institution. There has always been great commitment from our University to our NCAA Division I athletics programs and everything we have done has been with intent and purpose. Our University and athletics program have gone through tremendous transformation during the past five years and because of this, we are ready for FBS football."

Bill Carr, Principal of Carr Sports Consulting, LLC.
"Liberty has made giant strides in every phase of their athletics program and especially in football. They are the best prepared for FBS advancement of all universities for whom we have conducted similar studies over the past 21 years. We believe that their exemplary level of funding for athletics, the strength of their football coaching staff and the exceptional quality of their support facilities demonstrate the university's unquestioned commitment to excellence. Liberty is definitely on the move!"

LOL!

If this happens I hope this ride has an eject button
Note what Bill Carr said...every single sport at Liberty is funded at the NCAA maximum number of scholarships. How many Sun Belt schools can say that?

We better get used to Liberty, if Realignment goes crazy in the Big East again we may be asking them to keep us afloat. Well either them or Idaho.
Yes. IF Boise State stays home, look for the Big East to raid CUSA further. CUSA then raids the Sun Belt further. At that point...
We could bring a lot to your conference, and would a competitive, productive member in any/every sport.

I've fully acknowledged it could happen at some point, I just don't need to hear about every time someone passes gas in Lynchburg.

If it happens, it happens, but at our current configuration, they are not a real candidate.

I fully agree...I just also admit I see little chance there isnt more expansion. The truth is, I would much prefer Liberty to Idaho, and Jacksonville State, and would almost prefer them over NMSU.

That being said..did they liberty just put out a press release advertising a record crowd at comencement ceremonies? They count attendance at those things now?

How do you found a University, run it for 40 years and install your son as a president?

Talk about the next BYU of the East.......

On a serious note I've always wondered if Liberty might make sense in the MAC as its "Northwestern"
I'm trying really hard to care...

Okay, I'm not trying. I just don't care.

There is noway Jacksonville State is getting into the Sun Belt out of Alabama so long as Troy and USA are in the conference.

I'd prefer just about anyone to Idaho, I think they're dead in the water.

As to everyone else outside of App and Southern...

New Mexico State, Lamar, Jax State, Liberty, Sam Houston, etc. etc. etc. they all make me some varying degree of sick to my stomach.
I don't think this plastic spoon will suffice for tunneling.
Throw political and religious differences out the window. Follow the dollar signs. Money is the international language of "getting along."
We actually made it a few days without having to hear from this jackwagon. I thought we'd made ourselves perfectly clear on the matter. This guy just doesn't get it.
I kinda feel sorry for Idaho...just don't see anyone wanting them.

Yeah, the international language for idiots.

I'm sorry if I consider all factors before coming to conclusions. Especially political and religious factors.

Just say no to bigoted institutions...
Money, good attendance, great facilities. SOMEONE in FBS will give them a shot. Their fans won't be happy about it, but for the sake of stabilizing their conference it'll happen.
Pssst, Old Dominion hasnt said yes to CUSA yet. So why can't Liberty take their spot if ODU stays in CAA? Problem solved. CUSA's seems to be scheming for money over competitiveness, so that'd be a match made in, well, heaven.
