Pretty accurate, I'd say. Other than the fact that WMU has to prove they can actually win the big games.

Not that it really matters past 100 but behind Akron?
Are their really 70 teams better than NIU and their nations longest win streak? - NO!

Does CFN stand for Completely F*cking Nuts? - YES!!!

They absolutely do not know their FB outside of the South and they could care less about anybody else. Their rankings are year in and year out a joke. If the SEC wasn't so dominant they would have zero credibility.

They seem to know the MAC well. I have no problems with their RANK ORDER rating of MAC teams so far this year and last year they did well with the MAC teams. See below:

dang...4 MAC teams at 106 or lower. And Big 10(?) INDIANA at 111...
As a WMU fan, I hope that's the way it shakes out at end of season - with us on top of MAC!

IU surprises me, but from 106 - 120 who is going to be there? Worst of the MAC, WAC, C-USA, SBC, etc. Not likely anyone from SEC, B12, PAC12, etc.

That makes perfect sense to me.

Whenever I look at RANKED data (e.g., Sagarins) that data generated by computer or humans has to meet certain tests to be valid IMO.

IF the rankings do not rank WITHIN conferences well how can they rank teams accurately across conferences?

E.g., if a human or computer ranked WMU over NIU then how could it be trusted to rank NIU vs a SEC team?
They might have a little more credibility if they actually knew how many teams there are in FBS (hint: It's not 120 any more).

I think there is a 'semantic' issue here.

Isn't 120 the number of FBS schools from last year?

Isn't 124 (?) the number of FBS schools for this year (e.g., includes UMass).

I believe some are opting to only analyze the 120 schools who were FBS last season.

Whether this makes sense is subject to debate.
Pre-Snap Read doesn't seem to be having any problems figuring out how many FBS teams there are: Linky
CFN doesn't even know Temple plays 11, not 12 games this season. They pick the records at random.

I don't know about the other MAC teams but if NIU goes undefeated (or close to it) they will remain at about #80 until the last week of the season and then magically jump to #26 or whatever.

That's probably true because NIU's schedule is weak. Toledo, WMU, and Ball State are their toughest games. Iowa could be anywhere from a 3 to 8 win team. If NIU wins all of their games they won't be in the top 30 of the sagarins (who knows about CFN)... Unless they beat an undefeated or one loss OU, and win a decent bowl game? NIU better get some style points.

Actually I said that because it happens every year for NIU in CFN's rankings. This year it will probably be even tougher to move up on their board due to strength of schedule. Not that it matters what CFN thinks.
I really love the talk of going undefeated. Happens so often in the MAC. Not a game has been played yet.

If I were a bit taller, I would be in the NBA. 04-cheers
I see 8 teams being 6-2 or better, and the other 5 around 5-3, 4-4 if breaks go badly. At least that's what I'm picking up from the chatter.
i think it's the spring training mentality. you know what they say, every team is a contender in spring training, even the Cubs!

it's the same with the MAC in football, although in place of the Cubs you could put...oh i don't know...Miami! No wait, that's going a bit too far! 03-lmfao
