So, it's evident we have many animal lovers here.... post your pets. Tell everyone about your kids...

"Jovie" (as most of you have seen my past thread)
My wife and I picked her up off the streets a few weeks before Christmas when it was COOOOOOOOLD/snowing/sleeting. Looked for a home but ultimately decided we would and wanted to take care of her. We wanted to give her a 'Christmas/Holiday' name, so we ended up naming her Jovie after Zooey Deschanel's character from Elf.

"Porch"
A 5lb heavyweight fighter, not afraid of anything. Seriously.
She's a stray who has lived around our home for at least 5-7 years before we moved in. The previous owner named her Porch due to the fact she ALWAYS hung out on the porch in front. She is not afraid to tell Jovie who is Queen.

"Ike 'Shutyomouf'"
My wife took this little guy in a few days before we started dating... twelve years ago. Some friends captured him because he had a HUGE gaping infected wound on his right side. Really nasty. She and her roommate took him in until his stitches healed since my friends had 3 dogs and 7 cats already. They let him go out the front door when he was healed.... he returned. He became our little man, always getting in fights always avoiding death somehow. A dog once got after him and punctured his sternum; spent days in an oxygen tank and the vet was surprised he lived past the fight. I'm pretty sure that dog was scarred for life after seeing his claws.

I love seeing the photos and hearing happy endings.

In our apartments, there is a $300 pet deposit. That does not include small caged animals.
This is my lil buddy Algernon. He is a English Short Hair Guinea Pig. I chose him for several reasons. First and foremost, most of my grandchildren are terrified of dogs, even small ones.
They aren't scared in the slightest of Algernon...as guinea pigs are safe children for pets, due to their relatively docile nature.
(His name Algernon comes from a book I had to read in fourth grade called Flowers for Algernon).
He is my constant companion when watching Tiger games on tv.
I don't have any recent photos but will get some and put them up. Except for my daughter's min-pin, which bit me yesterday during a scuffle with Gracie. That one is in the dog house.

Somehow I don't think your happy ending and my idea of a happy ending are even close to each other...ahahahahahahahha. Can't touch that.

You can't get a happy ending without touching it.

Hilarious! My teen daughter, who always rolls her eyes when she see me on MT.org, laughed until she cried!
My dude Memphis....has some stories

We got Memphis as a small lad..I can tell the story of his name if you'd like. He was tiny then. Very lethargic and drank and peed a lot. We didn't think anything of it but that it was odd. One day while at church we had left him with our mother in law. She called and text and said we needed to come get him and take him to the vet. So as he is just a few months old we discover he is diabetic. Doctors told us he likely would have died had we not sought treatment when we did.

The next few months were a battle trying to get him stable with his sugar and healthy. The Doc's told us he likely would only live a year. He'll be 3 in June. This guy also has seizures. I think from the heat and his diabetes (only happens during the summer. With as bad as they have become this last year I simply wouldn't be surprised if he didn't last but another year or two.

I pretty much will be devastated when my buddy is gone. He has been a great source of joy for my wife and I who, with her health issues, have had a very rough year. That is my dude and I simply love that little guy. God knew we needed him as much as he needed us.

Let's hope you're wrong and the little guy makes it another decade. Great story, too. Did you see the video about the blind golden retriever that had daily seizures until she met a stray that was picked up in the yard one day? They became instant friends and the golden has not had another seizure since then.
