UTSA sites are posting a link to next months UT Board of Regents meeting where they will ask permission to accept an invite from Conference USA.

Commish Banowsky was down there in March and April inquiring about getting them to move.

For the remaining WAC football schools, it means curtains for the WAC as a football conference. I do not see how they can recover.
So it looks like UNT, Charlotte, and UTSA to CUSA? Does this potentially mean FIU is off the table?

Pretty much. One of the other lines is that since accepting the WAC invite, three other football schools have declared their intent to leave. As a result, the WaC will only have four football schools.

So who are the four?
UTah State
Idaho
San Jose State
new Mexico State
laTech
Texas State

If this is true, I expect you guys will be joining the SBC very soon after. Anyone checked the pulse of Tech fans yet? They have got to be getting very nervous.
This IS NOT an official invite, but an authorization by the BOR to accept an invite. Basically the same thing that was approved by the UNT BOR a couple of days ago.

In every case I have seen they don't go onto the BOR agendas unless its the real deal.

I would imagine that would be true at UT also.

Yeah this is done
Did utsa get Louisiana Tech's spot in CUSA?

I think MWC and CUSA are both going to 12 and LaTech gets the last spot in CUSA.

Markets TV people made the call

TECH
UTSA

Don't think they care one bit about who has been here longer or won games

With that said UTSA could of took UNCC Spot since they still a few years away..

Either way UNT / UTSA our in..

I still think they will stop at 10... No incentive for each league to go to 12.

I am very nervous. Everyone is assuming UNT and FIU are in. If UTSA is in and they stop at 10, we are out. Most Tech fans are still very optimistic though.

On the bright side though, if it does work out that way, I think the Sun Belt has cut the difference between the 2 leagues. I was comparing the teams and there would be some very interesting matchups (in typical years).

USM / Troy
Tulsa / La Tech
East Carolina / Middle Tennessee
Marshall / Arkansas State
Rice / UL-Lafayette
Florida International / Florida Atlantic
North Texas / UL- Monroe
Alabama-Birmingham / South Alabama
Tulane / Western Kentucky
UT-San Antonio / Georgia State

Not much difference at all.
CUSA takes UNCC, UTSA, UNT, then there is no seperation between us and them. This will ultimately mean that there is no "middle conference". There are the big daddy BCS conferences and then the other guys. But then again, I think the "BCS" moniker is going away which will, in theory, even up all the conferences. Win your games, you got a chance.
I really hope UTSA is going to CUSA and we get Texas St. La Tech...I hate to see them go to CUSA because that is what they want but I don't want them with us either. It sounds like a lose lose don't it...
Add Texas State and Appalachian State if Louisiana Tech gets into the CUSA. I think the SBC and CUSA will be relatively evenly matched.

I agree.

More importantly going forward I think the top teams in the SBC will be as good or better than those in CUSA, MWC, and MAC. Not much if any separation on the field and probably not as much as people think in $$.

Although the gap will probably close the Big East might keep a little separation from the back-pack.

As long as Memphis keeps to a policy of not playing anyone in CUSA, MAC, or Sun Belt they might.

Oh didnt you hear. They expect guarantees now. Our reward for beating their brains in these past few years is we have to forefit any right to homefield becase they joined the Might Big East/West/Midwest/Texas league.
