I think it is ridiculous that VCU can announce in May that they are leaving the CAA as of July 1. How can any conference be so stupid as to not require at least a one-year waiting period to protect themselves? All of the CAA schedules for fall sports like soccer and volleyball now have to be ripped up and redone, not to mention the impact on basketball, and the problems that come with having 11 members rather than 12.

I dont see an issue with expansion on the basketball front. Expansion is more of a monster in Football.
It's starting to hit basketball as well.... CAA now down from 12 schools down to only 9. There's going to be aftershocks that we're going to be seeing for a long time, even if there's no ACC moves.

We still are waiting on CAA, SLC, Horizon, BW, WAC if not WACked. Now we add AEC to the list of conferences looking for members. CAA & Horizon will make for more holes in lower conferences. SLC, WAC, BW will only be getting GWC, Indy, D-II, and BSU. So they won't make waves w/ counting conferences. AEC could make waves by raiding the NEC, or they could just settle for NJIT
America East could also reach down into Division II, where the Northeast-10 has 16 targets including 9 with football, although most of those schools shouldn't move up but many would nonetheless do so if given the opportunity.

You hear of any? I know LeMoyne wanted to before the moratorium but announced after the moratorium that it would be too costly. New Haven was going to move D-I if they didn't get in the NE-10, but they got in.
Old Dominion will be CUSA in basketball in '13 and FBS independent until '15 when it joins for football at the same time as Charlotte.

I haven't heard anything concrete. New Haven wouldn't make sense for America East with Central Connecticut already in Division I and readily available. A lot of the Northeast-10 schools are also joined at the hip, including those with football, and most are just too small or underfunded.

LeMoyne would make more sense as a replacement school for the MAAC if a member like Marist or Siena decides to leave. I could see Pace as a good fit in America East, increasing the league's New York presence, and the Northeast-10 could easily grab CW Post as a nearby replacement.

Thanks for the clarification. Update made.

From the C-USA press release:
ODU will join Conference USA for all sports in 2013-14, with the exception of football, which will move up to the Football Bowl Series (FBS) level for conference competition in the 2015 season.
Syracuse joining ACC in 2013.
