Uconn, Louisville, WVU and Rutgers played very well....UC kept things respectable at OSU....only SU got thumped....but from what I saw today...SU may be fighting Temple to stay out of the BE basement

Next week UConn plays Duke, Pitt plays Ohio, Rutgers plays New Hampshire, Syracuse plays Buffalo, WVU plays UCF, USF plays Tenn. Tech, Louisville plays Army, and Cincy plays Miami (Oh.).

Should be a pretty good record next week (4-2 this week), too.
I think we should win them all except for the UC/Miami game which should be a toss up.
definitely a great opening week for the NBE, with the obvious exception of the SU/Purdue game. SU needs to get some changes happening.

The NBE should sweep next week.... UC plays Miami at home, right?

Yep, UC plays Miami at home. UC lost to Miami at home last time, but one was questionable. UC had the game won and Minter and the defense let Miami get away with a fake field goal several times. And UC should have won last year. They lost 42-37 but they were getting the ball back and the punt returner fumbled it, and basically saved Miami. I expect UC to be ready for Miami.
By the way, we mentioned this on the UC message board here, but jarr (a UC fan) posted a thread from the Kentucky board about them pining for Steve Spurrier. I wonder if Syracuse might have a chance at getting Spurrier or a top quality coach like that? Someone like Spurrier could do wonders with the Syracuse program and their facilities and tradition, and it would be a big boost to the NBE!

--Spurrier has said that he will not coach a northern team...he will only go as far as Washington DC...anything above the city is to far north....Trev Alberts on ESPN was trying to stir something up last fall about Spurrier wanting the Nebraska job....but again...to far away from the sun and golf coursers for Spurrier

--I have heard that Spurrier might be interested in the Tennessee job if it became open...now that would be wierd

-- As for Syacuse...it would be nice if they got somone with some Eastern/ NY roots for that job....they are one of two D1 programs in NY (the other being Army).....and they need to start keeping there best players in state....also...it may be time to drop the wishbone/option look...SU has been running that as long as I can remember...but its time for a change

UC good luck with Miami, Spurrier could wind up at North Caroline oe even Florida again.
yeah, i would imagine that Spurrier is waiting to see if Ron Zook gets run out of Gainesville. If that job doesn't open up, UNC seems like a perfect fit.

But SU could certainly pull a high-profile coach. Hell, if Army can get Bobby Ross then SU should be able to get someone in the top ranks of coaching.

Spurrier will take an extended golfing vacation until Zook takes his leave. Then Steve will return to Florida with a $4M salary+benefits.
