My ten year old son, Travis, has been pitching for over a year now. Getting better and better every time he goes out there, even though he's had very little real pitching instruction until this year.

Proud coach/dad moment tonight...

The line for my man...complete game.. (4 innings) ...thirteen batters faced....nine strike outs...two walks...ZERO HITS.
He's gotta improve on his strikeout-to-batters-faced ratio

You're telling me. I don't know what we're gonna do with him. Tuesday night, he pitched the last inning in relief. Threw twelve pitches.....nine strikes....three outs.
Good stuff, HLT. We as parents wear this stuff on our sleeves, and it does make us proud!

Zero hits = less than giving 110% right?

Enjoy these time to the max. They grow up quickly.
congrats!

On a kinda related note--- anyone see where Bartolo Colon threw 38 straight strikes from the 5th to 8th innings last night? I've never seen anything like that. 38 in a row.
I know he was thrilled. That's great! Thanks for sharing. Yes, enjoy every moment.
Just to follow up...tonight, my man pitched another complete game, five innings this time. ELEVEN strikeouts...9-3 victory.

Twenty strikeouts in his last nine innings of work.

Oh, and not to be outdone by his big brother....my eight year old son crushed his very first over the fence home run tonight.

Way to go on the no hitter.

That is good stuff HLT, you would not even recognize our youngest, 12 yo that has turned out pretty special between the foul lines and in the pool. He has been swimming competitively and training for 2 hrs a day 3 days a week for about ten months now....he swims over 6,000 yards a week. He has the 5th best time in Missouri/Arkansas 50 yard freestyle for his age group.

That said, the muscles he has built through swimming and his growth spurt (9 inches in 9 months, to almost 5' 8"), have really fueled what I love the most....BASEBALL! He parked his first home run this year about 40 ft beyond left center and the fence is at approx 250". He is our best player, and because of his height, he scares the crap out of all of our opposing players when on the mound.

Don't ever feel bad about posting stuff about your kid's accomplishments.....we live thru them!
HLT Jr. update...this is getting ridiculous.

Last Thursday night, my man threw his second no hitter of the season.

Last night, he struck out 12 batters in a 4-2 victory.

He's ten. I have no idea what's supposed to be normal for a ten year old pitcher, but this can't be too shabby. No other team in our league has a pitcher that even comes close to what he's doing right now.
