Westby, like many school districts across the state, has been looking hard at the health insurance savings option as a way of addressing the deficit, ever since last year when Gov. Scott Walker signed Act 10, which requires state union employees to contribute 12.6 percent to their own healthcare benefit packages and limits collective bargaining rights.

“We’re sitting right in front of you and not hiding anything under the rug. The numbers presented speak for themselves. As a board, our goal was to keep as many people employed as possible and programs available for the students, and this goes a long ways toward doing just that. So, I respectfully disagree,” Sebion said.
