BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Two Western Kentucky football players are recovering after being wounded by gunshots outside a bar.

A statement from the school's athletic department says defensive lineman Tevin Holliman and defensive back Ricardo Singh were each hit once, and their wounds weren't life-threatening.

The shooting early Sunday outside the Lava Lounge in Bowling Green happened hours after the team played its annual spring game.

Bowling Green Police spokesman Ronnie Ward said it appears someone shot into a crowd outside the bar and struck the players. He said an officer driving by the scene heard gunshots and called for backup at 12:39 a.m.

Holliman is a sophomore from Tucker, Ga., and Singh is a freshman from Auburndale, Fla.

The school's statement said coach Willie Taggart has spoken to the parents of both players.

Terrible. I hope they will be okay, and I hope the police find the people involved.
What is the world coming to. That bar is really close to campus, I remember going to a Halloween party there in '99 although I don't think it was called Lava Lounge then.
Horrible when this kind of stiff happens.

What was a freshman and sophomore doing at a bar after mid-night???

Hope everyone has a complete recovery and the person responsible is caught.

Terrible stuff. Hoping the kids have a speedy recovery. Prayers out to the entire Western Kentucky community.
Hope they are ok. Its so hard to watch 120 kids 24/7.
