I saw those name possibilities in earlier threads and I REALLY like them. I love how they play on the metaphor of the westward expansion of our country.
I also think FAR TOO MANY people take the term "Western division" too literal. Yes, the conferance is expanding westward but there will be central timezone teams in the West. It was never expressed that the nBe was going to base an entire division in the West.
That said, Boise SDSU, UH, SMU, and Memphis, are blazing new frontier together. Let's bring in a BYU, Air Force, or Fresno, as #14, and brand this thing.

You make a good point.

It's less dumb that Leaders and Legends or Atlantic and Coastal.

Although technically.....the two Florida schools really wouldn't belong in a division called Colonial. Florida was just as much a "Frontier" as any of the Western states were but I think people would be able to diffentiate between the two.....except for that one Eastern team in the West....like Navy.

Atlantic and Pacific.

This way casual fans can understand which side of the country teams are on.

The teams closer to the Atlantic Ocean are in the Atlantic Division (except Navy which likes a national schedule).

The teams closer to the Pacific Ocean are in the Pacific Division (except Navy which enjoys a national schedule).

This is much less confusing than Legends and Leaders or Colonial and Frontier.

Just keep it simple.

I like Colonial and Frontier. Also like Atlantic and Pacific.

Combine both?

Atlantic Colonial Division - ACD
Pacific Frontier Division - PFD

Either way...the name of the divisions will/could be stupid (see Big Ten and ACC) or dull (see SEC and Pac-12).

I say...make $$$$$$$$ off these dumb names and have:

Cocoa-Cola Division

FedEx Division

At a price of $2 Million per year for each.

Make $4 Million extra $$$ ( probably more $$$$ than even a Conf Championship Game can produce for the Big East) as those companies would be exposure all season long...from on-air to web presence.

Why not go whole hog and make it Pepsi Division v. Coke Division... or Fed-Ex v UPS?
