Thanks great news! I think we're now done with 2012 recruiting.

BTW, I was on Talley from the first day I read that he was transferring.
Shame he has to sit out a year, since we REALLY could use an experienced PG for this season, but this is a nice pick up for Murphy. He was a starter and showed some promise as a freshman, but regressed last season. Who knows why, but hopefully a return closer to home will bring out the best in him. Sounds like he is similar to Lampley.

Think a lot had to do with PT and the other guard, "O'Connell" (I think it is his name).

I believe they are both short, but Talley is a pure PG. I thought Lamps was a SG in a PG's body.

BTW, this DOES affect '13 recruiting. With Ross, Talley and Lee (combo guard) I'd doubt Murphy goes PG in '13 class.

Also, think of Talley as being in the '13 class, and not the '12 class. 03-idea

If so, then Talley is a PG, Martin is a SG. Need the bigs.
great news!

is this our guard situation for the next two seasons?

2012 guards: Harrison, Lee, Thompson, Sims, Ross
2013 guards: Harrison, Lee, Talley, Sims, Ross, Martin
The bigs should be our 2013 priority for sure. From the looks of it, the state of Michigan is loaded with 2013 talent, so I expect Murphy and co to be very active with their in-state connections.

That's one of the (many) things I've loved about Murphy so far: getting talented kids from Michigan.

Bryant: Macomb Dakota (later, oak hill)
Riley: country day
Lee: Romulus
Still: Community
Talley: ABT
Martin: Community

Wow. Pretty good start for someone who hasn't even been our coach for a calendar year, if you ask me. Hopefully our recruiting ties to the state (especially the Detroit area) only get stronger.

Harper too, although I wouldn't be shocked if he, or another guard, left the program. Quite a log jam we have right now, althought that's not a bad thing.

big time logjam. i'm sure we'll see a lot of 3-guard sets next year. Harrison, Sims and maybe Thompson seem big enough to play the wing.

i've derailed this thread a bit. back on topic - Welcome Michael Talley III!
The Bigs should be a priority for 2013.

A quick look at Michigan preps however reveals very few bigs - class of 2013 in the state of Michigan. I would say thjough that Edwards from Romulus would be one of their priorities if he has grades,
I would like to see Murphy look at a possible transfer BIG MAN (C, PF), although I have no one in mind.

Again, there is an advantage to get a player to sitout next year and be ready to go...

Big Men are almost always hard to find! Most develop late.

I like the kid from Country Day, could bring in and redshirt with 4 yrs eligibility. I look for him to probably go to prep school and then be recruited with 4 yrs of eligibility. Hope he is in EMU's future.
Tremendous addition!

The next few years could be really, really fun.

Writing is on the wall for Harper.
