Quote:Obama's daughter spends spring break in Mexico
by Agence France-Presse March 19, 2012

OAXACA, Mexico - The elder daughter of U.S. President Barack Obama is spending her spring break in the historic Mexican city of Oaxaca in the company of 12 friends, a state police official said.

The young tourists, including 13-year-old Malia Ann Obama, are staying at a downtown hotel in this city famous for its colonial architecture and well-preserved native American traditions, the official said.

"We are here to block access to the hotel by other people and escort the vehicles that are carrying the visitors to tourism sites," the police official told AFP under the condition of anonymity.

Malia Obama and her friend are guarded by 25 U.S. Secret Service agents as well as Mexican police, the official noted.

The group, which arrived in Oaxaca Saturday, has already visited the architectural zone of Mitla and the tree of El Tule believed to have one thousand years.

The sightseeing plan also includes visits to Monte Alban known for its archeological research sites and Oaxaca’s famous artisan quarters.

Gee, I wonder how much that is costing the American Taxpayer?

King Obama and his monarchy strike again!!!
As if the Bush girls didn't have the same security... Plenty of things to ***** about but this isn't one of them.

Ha. If you are going to ***** at least post on both sides of the deal. Don't ***** about Obama when Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Reagan did the same sh!t.
We choose to protect our president and first family, and at the same time enable them to have some sort of lives. I would say that is a good thing even if it costs money. I didn't begrudge Bush or his family for it and I would not begrudge Obama and his as well.

This is Chris talking, not some political thingy. I see no reason for a 13 year old to take a "spring break" to Mexico, under the best of circumstances. IMHO, to take 25 secret service agents on this boondoggle is repulsive.

My kids took them, but not until they were seniors in high school and also, not out of the country.

C'mon Mark- after more effing rounds of golf than any previous president and 3-4X as many vacations as a family and as indviduals than any previous first family. I mean seriously - you are going to defend this????

A multi-million dollar vacation every month is a bit more than having some "sort of life".

The bushes did not pull this sh*t - no first family has ever pulled this sh*t.

Just admit it - this is ridiculous.
Well in fairness I tried to google Jenna Barbara Bush Spring break and I got results about Jenna's underage drinking (gasp) at 19 while at the U of Texas. So would someone show me where the Bush girl's went on spring break and how many SS were sent with them?

OK Barbara did in fact spring break in Mexico:

No mention of cost or number of SS agents.
They certainly went on "vacations" where they had just as many secret service with them. My lord... I think the guy is an awful president but I'm not going to fault him on these deals. Not only that, the SS guys are sunk cost anyway.

I can get the information but most of the Bush vacations were to the family ranch in Crawford, TX I believe.

Cheaper in Crawford Texas than any place Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) I assure you.

EDIT: My point being is it was a lot cheaper for those type trips than Spain for the 1st lady, Hawaii, Mexico, Martha's Vineyard, etc. AND Bush was a RINO.
Thats great... why didn't people ***** about it when he was in office though?

If you can't see that the Obama's have been more excessive in everything they do including vacationing than the other presidents, then I'll just assume you are blind.

They do everything excessively. Didn't they have a theme party at the White House which cost a mint? He's only tripled the deficit.

All he has done in office is vacation and campaign on the American tax dollar. This dude is the worst president of my lifetime, no competition.

And what kind of President and First Lady send their 13 year old daughter to Mexico on Spring Break? Pathetic parents to say the least.
Obama could save a litter of kittens from a Burning building and someone on here would tell me why it was terrible that he did so. Certain things I just half to laugh at... this is one of them.

Agreed. Politics are just too divisive these days. I'm not a fan of Obama but I don't think everything he or his family do is terrible.
Dont care about the spring break because he could ruin our country if he wins the next election. Lets focus on the big issue and the smaller ones will take care of themselves.

Love it.
Anyone who's been even a bit plugged in has got to know that the State Department warnings about American travel in Mexico have gone a bit more strong within the past month. Why the h@ll would you do this unless it's cover for some double secret operation. Oh. Wait. They did that already.

In all seriousness I told our kid there was no way she was going there on her first and only spring break in her college career. There is no way she would look like anything other than a target.

I fear for this country and these politiburo types in office currently. 'I deserve luxury, you deserve Yugo'.
