Quote:On men's soccer: With WVU in need of a conference affiliation since the Big 12 doesn't compete in the sport, Luck said Coach Marlon LeBlanc's program will play in the Mid-American Conference.

"There are still some formalities to be worked out, but it's my understanding the coaches and the MAC commissioner are all very supportive of our membership," Luck said. "It would be a four-year commitment."

WVU would give the MAC eight teams in men's soccer, with the Mountaineers joining Hartwick (N.Y.) and Florida Atlantic as members outside the MAC core group, which includes men's soccer teams at Akron, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Northern Illinois and Western Michigan.

Luck also said he expects a recommendation "by the end of the summer" from a WVU committee on starting a men's golf program (that is a Big 12 sport).
Welcome Mountaineers!

and you (WVU) owe Akron a home and home in hoops. 03-nutkick

Joining the MAC isn't a 'free lunch', it is something to be sought and treasured. 03-melodramatic
All sports or nothing.

Is UMass bringing all of their sports?

Are you scooping us? 03-lmfao

P.S. good luck tonight in the NIT tonight.
I say the MAC includes some basketball and football scheduling stipulations (like home and homes).
This affiliated membership thing may be the MAC's greatest asset. I can see the power conferences defending the MAC existence for just that.

Kinda funny.

Hide your pregnant women and couches. WVU fans have been known to beat and burn them respectively.

Sounds like Wal-Mart Wolverines and Sparties.
Well lookie here...a REAL University from West Virginia in the MAC.
Too bad Kentucky left the MAC for CUSA Soccer; WVA & Kentucky in the MAC for any sport would be highly interesting.

03-yes

I wonder what KY's buyout clause is to get out of CUSA soccer? 03-lol

Seriously, who wouldn't want to be in Akron's conference?

1 bottle of Kentuckey bourbon to each CUSA AD and soccer coach.

That seems kinda high.

I think the harder part is contacting the CUSA ADs, as no one really knows who's in CUSA anymore.

Agree. Get Hartwick's football team in the East and Akron has a rival! 03-wink
